Friday night drive around downtown Dallas Texas. Video begins with the Dallas skyline, passes through uptown, continues to the Deep Ellum nightlife district, explores the Main Street district, and continues through Uptown Dallas.
Dallas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and is largest inland metropolitan area in the U.S. that lacks any navigable link to the sea. With a population of 1.3 million people, the city of Dallas is the main core of the largest metropolitan area in the Southern United States. It is the most populous city in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the country at 7.5 million people.
Dallas and nearby Fort Worth were initially developed due to the construction of major railroad lines through the area allowing access to cotton, cattle and later oil in North and East Texas. The construction of the Interstate Highway System reinforced Dallas's prominence as a transportation hub, with four major interstate highways converging in the city and a fifth interstate loop around it. Dallas then developed as a strong industrial and financial center and a major inland port, due to the convergence of major railroad lines, interstate highways and the construction of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.
A "beta(+)" global city, the economy of Dallas has been considered diverse with dominant sectors including defense, financial services, information technology, telecommunications, and transportation. Dallas is home to 9 Fortune 500 companies within the city limits. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex hosts additional Fortune 500 companies, including American Airlines (Fort Worth), ExxonMobil (Irving), and J. C. Penney (Plano). Over 41 colleges and universities are in its metropolitan area which is the most of any metropolitan area in Texas. WalletHub named Dallas the fifth most-diverse city in the U.S. in 2018.

We are not "twin cities" and we damn sure are NOT "part of Dallas". Dallas and Ft. Worth are two independent major cities whos respective metro areas grew into each other over the years to become The Metroplex. DO NOT go to Fort Worth and say you're in Dallas. That's historically insulting to Fort Worthians.

Given a few more years I think Dallas will be considered one of the best looking cities in America. Given how much construction is going on there's gonna be lots of beautiful skyscrapers going up, and the city doesn't stick to the grid layout that strongly either.

If you drive down Greenville Ave through Deep Ellum on a Friday or Saturday night, you'll see more people. These places aren't exactly downtown, but close. Not here to exaggerate Dallas or beat it up. But admittedly it does have less activity than the old waterfront cities. I like Dallas, it is clean. Also a "corporate city", so most people are in the buildings working and retreat to the suburbs outside of business hours. Thanks for doing another drive-thru and showing a more complete side to the city.

A lot of people want to live in Downtown Dallas. Not exaggerating one bit. In five years Downtown will be unrecognizable. Could it be to much progress? Not against growth in the least I’m just a bit worried.

The best years of my life were spent in this beautiful city. It is nice to be able to look and let someone else do the driving. Dallas has so much potential. I'm still surprised that the streets around the Crescent, St. Paul, Akard, Cedar Springs, haven't been reconfigured. Driving around that area is horrible and despite all the new buildings there still doesn't seem to be much pedestrian friendly development. Statler is amazing, so glad they kept that old hotel. Deep Ellum looks to be totally gentrified, what happened to the grittiness that was unique to Dallas. Love all the building's lighting up and hope the new Amli will have something spectacular unlike it's Fountain Place sibling. Thank you for making me home sick, I will watch over and over.

Dallas is Alot different than NYC,LA or chicago. but it still has the hustle and bustle and metropolis feel. Dallas-FortWorth Metroplex has 8million residents..making it the 4th largest Metropolitan area in the country. While DFW airport is the 4th busiest in the country and 2nd largest in the country while being the 8th busiest in the World.. although traffic is bad but the transportation systems make up for it. DART Train Tex Rail Train TRE Train DCTA train.. All 4 train systems for different areas of the Metroplex..

The ONLY reason people move here is for WORK. Its not cheap anymore, it's hot as hell 7-8 mos out of the year, there's very little to do outdoors. It's a corporate and shop/eat out city. The suburbs are generally nice. If you like to work hard and make a lot of money you'll love it. There IS opportunity here.

For all the people that saying "Where are the people, it looks empty blah blah".... First of all it's too hot in Dallas.. Texas period to be walking. At night its still hot, we get to our destination & relax. Dallas is literally the fastest growing city in America so its not lacking people. It's always something to do too. Also has one of the best public transportations systems in America so people rather use that or drive to be in the a/c rather than walking & sweating.

I've never been in the US, and of course I've never been in Dallas. But It seems to me like it's a really nice city, with a bunch of technological stuff, modern constructions, high buildings, neon lights and etc... but at the sametime it has that small town vibe, people walking down in the streets, going to the bars, lots of people going out. I like it, great Dallas. Maybe someday I'll manage to go to the US and get to know some of these interesting cities.

Most of Dallas was built in the second half of the 19th Century. Like most North American cities built during this period, it's designed at the scale of a car as opposed to a person, so walking is usually impractical because of the distances between buildings. Other examples are Miami, Houston, Phoenix, and Atlanta.
