i mean, he always grabs it, and holds it open so he could slide the knife in, and if he were to hit his arm, it wouldn't be too bad because its in water and slows the movement down. plus if he did get a cut he could just clean it and be done for the day, but he probably brings waterproof bandages for scenarios where he gets cut
