That’s definitely a leg bone- tibia, the anterior border on the surface of the bone is obvious and the medial & lateral condyles are noticeable as well as the malleolus. It is not a femur because those have a ball head to articulate with the acetabulum in the pelvis to form the hip joint.

Hey Jake, I'm an archaeologist and it looks like you have a cow leg bone there. I work every year in Israel and in the states and we find these things all the time. The bone dose however appear to show significant signs of arthritis which is normal for an older cow additionally its probably been rolling around in the river for years. My opinion is that some farmer X amount of years ago dumped his dead cow on the riverside somewhere upstream..

This is so wild! I'm a Forensic Anthropology student and from what I can see, that actually looks like a human Tibia - one of the two bones that make up your lower leg. You can see some of the landmarks on it quite clearly, but it has defnitely been severely water damaged. It's pretty easy to distinguish animal and human bone if you know what you're looking for because their shapes are slightly different. Thanks for the awesome content!
@miink18615 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty clearly an ungulate tibia
@SomeKidWeGotOffOfAmazon5 жыл бұрын
And it clearly belongs to a shorter being than Jake, if that's the case and it is in fact the Tibia of a child/teen then this could bring the investigation to a whole other level, also just by looking at it tells me that the water damage might have caused it to be non identifiable if it was human, meaning that because of the lack of preservation means that there is a chance this can be identified as human, but they won't be able to identify the exact indentity of the said human.

So true story Chenango County ny river had a skull in it. The cops threw it away and said it was not a identifiable body part. This guy found a way to investigate the skull. It belonged to a woman form 87 who drowned and was never recovered. Later he found her whole body 6 miles up. What killed her might have been a bout hitting her or a flashlight. The cops again tried to dismiss this find. The guy kept pushing Albany got a hold of the find and they took it seriously. The woman did die from a head injury but it was from jumping into the river. How did the skull end up so far down? Chenango has a pull current under the water of 150 psi. Her body got caught on a fallen tree over years of being down in that current her head just pulled off and got found year later. I don't trust anyone in ny.

That doesnt look like a human femur. Human femurs are straight and narrow with distinct ball and socket joint. That doesnt have the socket joint, and yes it could be worn away but it tapers alot, unlike any of the long bones in the human body. That is most likely an animal bone, my guess would be a tibia of some sort. (not to be confused the the lowest "leg" bone of most animals which is actually just the elongated metatarsal, which many people think is the tibia, but its not). Im no bone expert, but I did take an archaeology course before I found out it wasn't for me, but I can say that its definetly not human.

That doesn't look like a human bone to me, seems a little too thick, but on video it's a little bit difficult to say. I search for missing people, well... for their human remains with my detection dog. Mostly I have to search in the woods and sometimes I stumble upon bones of animals, when my dog ignores them I'm almost sure it's not human, but I always take pictures and take the coordinates and send them to an anthropologist if I'm not sure. If you find bones like that never put them in plastic bags, because there is a high chance of developing mold which can destroy any remains of DNA, put it in paper bags the "yellow" ones, not the white ones because they are bleached with chemicals which can alter DNA. Anyway you did the right thing contacting the police, families of missing people are desperate and need closure as you already said. Keep up the good work!!!

I believe you have found the third metacarpal or shin bone of a horse. The end of the bone looks too flat for a distal femur (articulates at the knee with tibia and fibula, bones of lower leg). It is also missing the head and neck and trocanter which makes up the "ball" in the hip "ball and socket" joint. I I'm not saying it couldn't possibly be a partial human bone. Not cow IMHO, but I'm guessing horse. There are a myriad of ways it could have washed into the creek. Scavengers which dismember animals before owners bury them. There are always animals that are killed in storms, flooding, etc. And unfortunately there are low lifes who will dump dead animals in our waterways becaude they are too lazy to bury them.

The police behavior seems so sloppy... that’s why so many cases never get solved... you’re way more reactive and precise than them...
@Juliana-dj4qw5 жыл бұрын
You’re not the one risking your life everyday. Plus, sometimes there isn’t enough evidence to solve a case..sometimes after years they’re finally solved. Unless you’re a police officer you shouldn’t judge because you honestly don’t know the ins and outs of solving cases. I’m not a police officer but I’m still going to go with the fact that they work hard because if they definitely don’t then explain how some people are caught, saved, given justice etc. I don’t wanna start anything but this is just my opinion, they work hard. Sure sometimes it seems like they don’t but I’m not gonna stereotype officers because of some others actions. So yeah, that’s my opinion.

I get your points, but in this case I’m only commenting on the behavior I see on the video and used “seems” and concerning cases being solved or not, there are also plenty of cases where police work was obviously extremely sloppy and led to absolutely nothing. I understand many people work hard but that would be a generalization to say everybody does. I don’t know American police but from what we experience in France and in Japan, I would allow myself one generalization : police officers are human beings and it is not realistic (sadly) to expect the same quality of work from everyone. But I don’t know, I said “seems” because also it might just be that I misinterpreted body language.

My older sister, a doctor who looks at bones all the time on imaging scans said that’s definitely a human thigh bone. Probably a stocky male. She’s no expert, but she’s pretty darned smart when it comes to these. She’s an ER physician. May not mean anything, but she s does this every day.

Ser Solo I didn’t just ask her if it was human. I just showed her the video. She came up with the rest all on her own. It was difficult growing up in her shadow. Lol. Just kidding. Thank you for the comment.

I found a part of a human skull on a beach in Scotland and handed it in to the police. The police got back to me and they said it was a sailor that had fallen overboard.

that looks like a child's bone. the bone is so short, it could either be a femur or the humerus. if it's a femur, probably a real short adult or a child (avg adult femur is 17-18.9 inches). if it's the humerus, probably an adult (avg adult humerus is 6-11 inches). the bone could be from a person who is 5 feet and under. the guy holding the bone to his thigh is 5'11", i'm 4'11. i estimated how my thigh would look like if i were sitting next to him. it looks like it could be the length of my bone (if quite a part of the bone was cut off) or even shorter (if only the upper head was cut off).

It would be interesting if we got an update with all these guns/bones/knives. I wish the police would tell you if you found evidence of a crime.
