I’ve been accused and tormented, they broke my bones, shed my blood, humilated me in my honour, they just laughed at my tears and pain.” Refrain: Pursued ones, people of the Sky, come you all I ask for the merciful dream of the Taltos, Don’t let my name be forgotten, save it in legends and songs, I’ve been burned here for our true Faith! I call the depth of the Earth, let it tremble! I call the Mother of Water, let it roar! Summer Wind bring terrible hurricane, Sun’s anger scorch, Father of Fires burn with fiery flames! Taltos: “My once beautiful voice drowned into blood, It won’t recite tales and songs anymore, It won’t bring cure for the diseased, Nor for children of our people. This poor translation cannot give back the high poetic style of the original Hungarian lyrics, but maybe it can give the essence of this beautiful and in the same time sorrowful song, a slice of a dark age in hungarian history.

One more note to foreigners: The Táltos were ancient Shamans of the Hungarians. Whether they came from the Hun or Magyar side (two different peoples) is a mystery. In essence, the ancient pre-judaistic / pre-christian Hungarian mythology and worldview was animistic, we celebrated and worshipped nature, just like other pagan people around the world. The core feature of it was ancestor worship and the World Tree, kind of like the Yggdrasil in Norse mythology. This connected to 3 different worlds (At least). The Táltos were wise-men, specifically selected and taught to be shamans. They had the power to convey to spirits and interpret signs and dreams. Not only that, they could also 'cross' these worlds as well, hence the song says 'I call forth the merciful dream of the Táltos'. Here 'dream' refers to the act of connecting and crossing these barriers to other worlds.
