I just felt the extreme excitement and energy in that first gunbarrel, aw man. His movies might not always suggest it with his kind of character but he seems so hyped to play Bond

It's a crying shame Timothy Dalton didn't do more. He and George Lazenby both are my favorites. They play Bond so close to the books. Leaves one to wonder what if had Timothy Dalton accepted the role back in 1969. Probably wouldn't have seen Sean Connery in Diamonds Are Forever and Roger Moore would have probably never been offered the part. Imagine having 20 years of a Dalton Bond. God it would have been amazing.

What I didn't like about Dalton was that he wasn't elegant...

Lazenby was nothing like the book Bond. He was doing a poor impression of Connery. Dalton on the other hand was pretty on point.

I would have loved to seen Timothy in Goldeneye. He fits in it perfectly. The whole post cold war scenario fits in line with the living daylights theme..It was still he's era post license to kill.. Timothy and Sean bean would have been super. PB should have come in TND.

@@RobertK1993 Brosnan was terrible in Goldeneye. His Bond had no personality because the script was clearly written for Dalton's Bond and they had yet to decide on what Brosnan's thing was going to be.

I’m sorry, but although Brosnan was good in GoldenEye, GoldenEye is the worst Bond film in my opinion. Too many outdated cartoonish sounds for guns and explosions. And I’m sorry if I did offend some people but, it’s my opinion.
@Abeyratne Жыл бұрын
@@RIPCakebomb Understood you're point. Goldeneye had a super plot but the way it was filmed was not taken seriously. It should have been realistic and gritty. I mean the opening scene didn't make any sense at all. Bond going down a dam and then being top of a mountainside area making the most outlandish escape ever. The General talking English to the Soviets was amusing. Boris too was very childish too.

@@strikerbowls791 Because it was never written for Brosnan, it was written for Dalton. Brosnan's performance is also lacking in that film and the emotional moments would have been a lot better with Dalton's acting chops.

I really wish Dalton's jump would have been used. He did it in two alternate barrels, but this one is the best. The one they used officially is still my favorite of the gunbarrels, as it combines a nicely stylized stance with speed (Moore and Lanenby got the style, but they'd have been shot in the time it took them to fire) Connery wobbles in his, and Brosnan...He just kinda looks like a statue they turned. No bend, just turn and shoot.

Somewhere I have a copy of The Living Daylights taped off when it aired on ABC Sunday Night Movies back in the late 80s/early 90s, and for sure it used the second gun barrel here. Was always curious since when I got the official VHS and DVDs years later, the regular gunbarrel is different yet just close enough that I wondered if I was misremembering.

There was never a name for the Bond 17 film of 1991. Dalton was set to star and there was even a well detailed storyline drawn up. Characters, villains, locations, etc were in the producers hands. But with all those legal hassles that ate up years of time, a script was never commissioned and shooting was never given a green light. By the time 1994 rolled around, Dalton gave it up. Tired of the waiting game I guess. The pre title sequence to Goldeneye was loosely based on the pre title sequence of the 1991 film which was to begin in a chemical weapons facility that ultimately explodes. One of the main differences was that the mission for the 1991 film was to revolve around why the facility exploded whereas in Goldeneye, it's Bond that does it. Some of the locations and plot points were borrowed for Tomorrow Never Dies as well. Mainly Bond spending some screen time in the Far East and partnering/hooking up with a Chinese Secret Service agent.
@nick3710411 жыл бұрын
Brosnan's is indeed very fast, but like I said, I think, IMO, that Dalton's edges him out because he combines speed with a little bit of flair. I think a little bit of bending or crouching adds to the effect, since you're trying to present a smaller target as you're trying to shoot the other guy. Brosnan's isn't terrible, in fact, I think only Craig's QOS gunbarrel is bad, I just prefer Dalton's to Brosnan's or the others.

Actually “the property of a lady” was supposedly going to be his next bond film before they switched it to Goldeneye as the title before switching the role to Brosnan. Reason was brosnan was “too young” to play the next role after Moore before Dalton was considered (so I heard) don’t quote me on that though.

This is how i rank the 007 gunbarrel sequences! 1) Bob Simmons/Connery's 007 (pure and simple) 2) Roger Moore's first two gun barrels (was done with speed and kill intended, "The Spy Who Loved Me" and later ones were actually much weaker i think.) 3) Timothy Dalton gun barrels (quick and direct.) - recent alternate take version, also looks kinda cool! 4) Daniel Craig's (Casino Royale, Spectre) well done and grounded Gun barrels. 5) George Lazenby's (styled version on one knee, was quick and unique!) 6) Brosnan's (weak and tame, thus is at the bottom far as i'm concerned!)
