See that big bloke in front of the camera? Yea, that's me. G’day folks, I’m Mikey Cunningham. I’m not only the bloke in front of the camera, I do all the work behind the camera too. I mostly make fishing videos.
I live in Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory. Also known as the "Top End." A lot of my older videos are from the Gulf of Carpentaria, when I lived in a little fishing village called King Ash Bay Fishing Club. It's located on the banks of the McArthur River downstream from Borroloola in the Northern Territory. I still go back there a few times a year and make fishing videos of my fishing trips.
I enjoy filming and editing my fishing adventures. Thank you to everyone who leaves me a comment and shares my stuff. You guys are awesome.

Thanks mate. 🤠👍🏼 I checked the radar this morning and the catchment for virtually EVERY top end river is getting a drenching from this ex cyclone. I’m so excited to be able to finally do some runoff fishing. When I lived down on the McArthur, the river would flood but we didn’t really get the runoff fishing like the top end rivers with their huge flood plains.

@@MikeyCunninghamFishing yeah I've been glued to the radar over here in Gove, also getting some good rain around the arafura swamp, which is vital for the side of the Territory. Have you considered fishing the Daly at night? Had my best sessions on that river fishing feeder creeks (like the ones in this ep) using fizzers. Really enjoy watching your fishing journey over there, the wins and losses.

One thing I did notice is boats heading down river with swags. So fishing at night definitely seems to be a popular option. A mate of mine got a 112cm Barra on the creek I was fishing in a couple of weeks earlier at night too. I’m gonna have to give it a crack aren’t I. Haha. 👍🏼

That sucks mate. This one was so unexpected just appeared out of nowhere and started chomping away like a corn on the cob or something. Didn’t look like it was doing any damage either which surprised me.

Yeah I saw that there was no damage which was weird. The one that slammed two of our barra were further downstream to where you are and were much bigger. Grabbed it as we tried netting and took the fish down slapping the rod on the side of the boat shattering it. They get nasty there.

I’m pretty sure they sold up mate. Back in April. The new owners are two couples I think. Definitely a beautiful place to stay. I loved it there. 👍🏼

Use surface lures where there is clear water near dirty water the barra sometimes like to hide in the dirty water and if they see something is swimming along close in the freshwater the barra will burst out of the dirty water and Ambush they prey.

If ya pluggas are pulling through use a plastic bread bag tie on underside, works a treat, nice job getting a few barra this time 👍

I’ve done the old bread tie on several occasions. My mate Ash taught me that one. When I saw him do it I was like “what kind of sorcery is this?!” Haha. 🤠👍🏼

Started on a wifey enforced jungle trek in Vanuatu a couple of years ago, 600m up the first hill I bust a plugger FFS right hand front. Endured it for some time with my pussy feet but then hit up old mate (the guide) for a lend of his knife (machete) which he failed to relinquish but asked me why I needed it. I pointed out a bamboo trunk and he chopped it down, we then whittled a slither down to a toothpick sized stick and stuck it through where the plugger busted. Job done.

Fixed my misses thong by using a fishing hook I found at the boat ramp and pushed it through the stem where the plug was to stop it pulling through

Been watching for a while and bloody miss the territory, if you lose the bottom part of ya plugs safety pins work a treat or cable ties and leave a decent tag so it doesn't pull through👍

I leave my boat down in the Gulf these days mate. I find fishing down there so much more simple. So yea, I just leave the boat down there. Haven’t wet a line in the top end in a couple of years now.
