To be honest i think its just that in the Graham Norton show people are allowed to be laid back and chill out unlike other talk shows

Joe Randella No, I don't think so. Although this is a laid back show, through observation of American fame and English fame the two seem to be quite vastly contrasted. I think it's due to the emphasis and importance of being rich and famous in America, whereas in England it's more an appreciation of the art - but the individual must still stay grounded and continue their study and other work. Fame doesn't really seem as important to the English, on a general scale.

KidsWithGuns1992 I think Americans are more spoilt. But I think celebrity status is the same. I've heard of celebrity worship in Britain being just as bad as in the US. Judi Dench is special because she found fame late in life, so her formative years weren't affected by Hollywood. And to play devils advocate--many British actors are professionally trained, so they're more about the craft, I guess, than the fame.

Er, no. Judi Dench really didn't find fame late in life. She's been famous since the 1960s, and a household name since the 1970s. She found American fame later in life, which isn't the same thing. Though granted she was primarily a classical theatre actress - as she said all of Shakespeare, Ibsen, Checkhov, years with the RSC, so no Hollywood. There is celebrity worship here of course, mostly in the press - or certain sections of the press - but if anything, ordinary people are far more likely to want to take anybody acting like they're a big deal and knock them down a peg or two. Also, you have to remember that a lot of the typical British psyche is to be self deprecating and avoid compliments. That plays a part.

I don't know how many times I watched As Time Goes By - many years ago when I was already living in Italy and had the great good fortune to have access to BBC Prime. Wonderful rapport between all the cast, loved it, the best of British TV, and there was much of IT then. 🤗👍

It is stupid that people hate all people talked or prasied Harvey. These artists were talking about his contribution to the movies, not his sexual Preditory life. He made lot of good movies possible. So people who were in those movies naturally talked about him and thanked him those days. So what is wrong with that?. Now adays, no one will mention his name. But I am sure even now most of the well known artist still thank him silently in thier hearts because he made thier careers. When they do that, they are not thinking about Harvey, the infamous sexual preditor, but Harvey the movie producer who produced so many good movies that helped them to build thier careers.
