Catch an shoots are usually easier for shooters. Dame has to do more and he also uses on-ball screens less to get his shot off. I put Dame right in the same conversation with Steph shooting-wise for those reasons. I think if Dame had a shooter like Klay next to him and an offense that sole focus is getting him open, instead him always having to create for himself his percentages would increase given that type of environment and he'd be recognized by everyone as the same level of shooter as Steph maybe even better

In fact, a lot of guys got easy, open looks because defenses would dare them to shoot them, preferring to prevent easy looks inside the paint. On the other side of it, Curry practically IS the scouting report. Teams would rather have anybody OTHER than Curry shoot, and during playoffs they get very, very physical with Curry. Go watch the games and pay attention, and you will see that they love to touch up Curry. Curry, understanding this, spent the last several years bulking up and getting stronger so he can take contact. His percentages are up not just from three but also near the hoop and under the rim.

Once Aldridge left and Brandon Roy was out just a few years before that, I knew he would be wasting his time. Portland just isn't the market for a caliber of player that he is. You can catch and shoot without superstars or all stars. Condition yourself like Allen Iverson or Steph Curry so you can run around non stop without losing a step and set up screens with your movement. Any NBA player worth their weight in salt can execute a screen at a decent clip but it takes some insane, all time conditioning to run the way Steph does. Wilt, AI, Kobe and maybe a few others were at that level. It's easy to say I don't get catch and shoot looks without tailoring your game to get catch and shoot looks. That's mostly on Dame.

Some practice maybe but I don't see how, on a team full of NBA, players, you don't have 3 guys who can run screens. I find it damn near impossible to believe that if you're the only star player and you want to run off ball more that the coach, assistants, secretary, personal trainers, GM, President and even the damn cheerleaders wouldn't bend over backwards to at least give you that much. It's going to be more crisp and consistent with better players but if it's not happening at all there's a reason outside of the rest of the team. That starts with Dame, IF that's what he really wants.
