Dame is one of the more clutch players in the league but he can't be at the top of that list for me. He's just never been under that kind of pressure in his career. He's always played in a small market which I realize has more disadvantages than advantages but one of the few advantages would be the lack of outside noise. Never has he been under any type of pressure to win. It's always okay when he loses. He's underappreciated for his successes but also rarely scruitinized for his failures. Guys like Bron and Steph can have great playoff runs and it wouldn't matter if they had 2 bad games in the finals and lose and that's the standard for them. Dame has never been at that level. I'm not saying that he wouldn't perform on that stage if he ever got there but I can't take it for granted that he simply would. Maybe he gets to Philly or Miami and we find out.

I did say he was one of the more clutch players but hitting a big shot in a first round playoff series in a tie game with a 3-1 lead at home? And nobody would have said nothing if he'd lost. The stakes have never been that high for Dame. He's never had anything to lose, only everything to gain. He can hit big shots and so you can say he's clutch, but to be in the coversation for being the clutchest, you have to have faced the kind of pressure that all time greats do.

I said he has never had any real pressure, the stakes were never remotely as high as it has been for some others. He has never had a decent playoff round in his career outside the first round. He has given up more double digit leads in second half of playoff games than total wins out of the first round. Despite the two buzzer beaters, if any other superstar had his playoff resume, they would get killed by the media but not Dame. He has never been scrutinized for his failures. How can you say he's anywhere near as clutch as LeBron who has consistently been miles better in the clutch with all the weight of expectations on his shoulder and a legacy to protect every single game?

But all great scorers go through that. You are missing the context that Dame needs a greater player than himself on the Blazers to be able to beat the more elite teams. Dame is not a #1 on a championship team, he's utterly useless when not scoring. In the history of the NBA, only one small combo guard has led his team to a title, that would be Steph Curry, and Dame never has been on that level. Even if you gave Dame a great defensive support cast around him, he still would falter against elite defenses. Dame needs to check his own ego, and realize he at best is a #2 on a legit title team. His scoring is all he has, primarily his hot n cold shooting, but once he's off with his shot, he provides nothing else, and his defense is horrendous. It's why him and CJ always got cooked by Steph and Klay, because Steph and Klay actually played some defense.

@@QuestionEverything562 well that was just a completely biased take. For the record, Curry has only won championships when he has played alongside 3-4 HOF players. Dame has never had that luxury. Let’s take 2021 for example. When Klay Thompson was not there, Steph couldn’t even make the playoffs. That was the first time since early on in his career where he had an average team, and he couldn’t do anything with them. He averaged I think 32 points per game (just like Dame this year), and they missed the playoffs even when he still had Draymond, Poole, Kerr as a coach, etc. This notion that Curry has carried below average or average teams to chips is just completely and utterly foolish. His own teammate Draymond even has hinted at the fact Curry needs him. 😭 If you put Dame on those GSW teams, they would probably still win some rings. Especially with KD there. There’s no hate for Curry here, but you guys build him up to be something that he just isn’t. When his team was not shooting well in the second round this year, guess what, he couldn’t do anything. Dame has been dealing with this his whole career.

Here are Dame's clutch numbers after the first round. 2016 semis vs Warriors, Lillard shot 27.3% from the field and 25% from three. 2019 semis vs Nugs, he shot 40.9% from the field and 28.6% from three. 2019 WCF vs Warriors, Dame shot 20% from the field and 16.7% from three . Yes, he drilled feathery and amazing shots in the first round vs the Rockets in 2014 and Thunder in 2019, at the same time, he literally isn't clutch in the 2nd round and conference finals. Just the facts. I don't hate Dame. I am just being honest. First round series winners doesnt mean you are clutch. Being clutch means being consistent when the game is nip and tuck.

Everytime I watch Portland Dame he in a overtime or a buzzer beater situation..Dame shot selection also is poor as well he pulling up from mid court for no reason at all like it's a all star game sometimes I sit back and think is he the reason why they always in a late game situation or need a buzzer beater shot to win games playing hero ball ..I think he hurts the team more then help due to the poor shot selection he makes same goes for Luka ball hogging azz too
