Damien Rice is the Vincent Van Gogh of music. Damien is still not recognized by a lot of people. Hope, they will understand these songs one day.

Not hurrying to produce shit that nobody will remember, Damien stands out in the crowd of musicians, trying to produce things that really reflect the depth of his self and through this we get to the bottom of the human soul. He represents to me the essence of what art is supposed to be.
@veefitzgerald69668 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I wrote above....I am glad somebody else agrees! He has a way to connect at the deepest level and I think it is because his music is coming from deep within himself......
@veefitzgerald69668 жыл бұрын
I totally and completely agree!!!! Also what was written about not being like other musicians but produces melody and lyrics that reflects the depths of his soul. People sensitive to that feel it just as deep and it resonates. Singer/songwriters that feel at that depth often are insecure about the talent they possess as well, but then again that same insecurity is what makes them so good! I love how he does impromptu after concert sidewalk concerts....he is the real deal....

What human being would give this song a thumbs down? It's beyond my comprehension. I don't think it is possible to create a more touching, more true homage to Leonard Cohen. There are no words to express how precious, how valuable Damien Rice is. Through his music he personifies life in its core truth with unprecedented talent and sensitivity. I love and appreciate him so so much, much more than any other artist on this planet. And I thank him for sharing with us all his meaningful and beautiful art.

I had never heard this song before it came up on my KZbin music playlist when I wasn't watching. I knew instantly it was Damien Rice but I presumed he was covering a Leonard Cohen song I hadn't heard of. That is how amazingly well observed this song is in both it's construction and performance. It was only after opening my phone to see what the song was called that I realised it was Damien's tribute to Cohen. How beautiful. There are so many levels in this song as to why it evokes Cohen's style so well and also I notice how the first half of the song sounds like early Cohen in it's style then as it progresses and he brings in the backing vocals we have the later Cohen style coming thru. So well observed. I am in love with this. I always thought 'Chelsea Hotel No2.' was the song I could have written for somebody I loved but now I believe this is that song.

fucking gorgeous. lyrics (as best as i could) for anyone in need; the look of hunger in a woman with heat is enough to lift an old man from his knees like a piece of a puzzle he's been looking for he was leaning to dying, now he's coming back for more the look of a woman when she gets you alone you can't see what's coming, there's blood in your bones there's power in your pocket, and ships in your sea it doesn't often happen, but it happened to me then she goes back to her man back to her man back to, back to her man there's a look of war in the way that you go but the lead in your arrow is loose, don't you know whatever you got, you lost in the game of picking your own pockets for someone to blame there may be nothing but the arc of love depending on who you're dreaming of you can't escape when it feels like rape but who's raping who? then she goes back to her man back to her man back to, back to her man she goes back to her man back to her man back to, back to her man (she don't love him) (back to her man) (she don't love him no more)

@cesmcmyth7 жыл бұрын
yeah? you love Damien Rice right? he is very explicit in some of his songs. It's his style. There's one in which he actually says "and your dick is from wood". Etc. Would you tell him he must be 12 years old? If you open your little mind to literature, you will discover such interesting and great essays saying many things with such a fine sentences. with meaning beyond the "meaning of each word". Now explain to me the lyrics, the ships on his sea and the blood on his bone. What does it mean?
@olivia-qv3lm7 жыл бұрын
Ces McLakon i don't know what it means but I do know that it's immature to assume that the word bone must mean penis.
@cesmcmyth7 жыл бұрын
Cath Leen that's why I emphasised the "context". it's not the bone. I attended literature lesson sometime during school. -not in english- and there are plenty of hidden meanings to phrases that "out of the context" woud mean something totally mundane a d meaningless. but put into the overal context can be actually quite obvious. But of course I shouldnt throw that reflection on youtube. also this very song asks "who is raping who" so... there you go
