I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. The loop knot is the difference between catching and not for me. I have found that a 3 inch straight tail on a 1/4 oz. Guppy head works best as well.

Zman baits are the only ones I use. The buoyancy offsets the heavier jig head to keep the bait horizontal.

I really like the Ryugi jig head hooks with the eye going from side to side, over the front to back versions; it seems to keep the jig head at the 90 degrees perfectly, even after a hook set.

First off my latest shipment of core tackle gear came today. And there was a sticker in there, man I was so excited almost more excited to have a car tackle sticker then the new baits thank you for sharing the tips. This is the second time I've heard somebody say keep your bait above the fish. That's something I was guilty at not doing. As this is a technique I am trying to learn myself at the at the moment. So I don't have any tips or tricks to share because I have no clue what I am doing yet.

Great advice. People who claim it’s easy don’t know what they’re talking about. That illusion of prey escaping seems to be the key. I’ve tried to carry that over to other horizontal lures, especially swimbaits and jerkbaits. That has worked better for me than with the Damiki Rig itself.
