@lawrencesmith9059Ай бұрын
Agree 100% with you on this analysis, Miller is NOT the problem. And yes, I agree 100% that we must stretch the defense before we can run the ball. I keep hearing so many fans say that we need to run the ball, but that simply is not working without the passing game. I am questioning all of the coaching on the offensive side of the ball. Henson has not developed a solid o-line, Simmons has not developed all the talented receivers and they are not being used for their unique talents (why have Branch in when you need a possession receiver who can fight for the ball?). You mentioned that Duce needs to be more involved, well so does Jakobi. Easton actually was right there and unblocked for two of the three long runs and on the third long run, Easton was unblocked, but maybe a little out of position to make a play. He seems to have the same feet of glue or hesitation that I saw with Mason last year. The defense has made adjustments at halftime to really clamp down, why is this not happening earlier? I think this is more about Riley not allowing D'Anton to come out with a higher risk strategy early in the game (such as committing to stopping the run game vs Michigan or giving too much cushion in the pass game vs LSU) One more point I would make is that this is 100% about Riley playing from fear, trying to not lose the game, instead of inspiring his team and trusting them to win the game. The coaching on the defensive side is so much better, I hope Lincoln is willing to look in the mirror and realize that the offensive coaching staff needs the same scrutiny as the defensive staff got last year.

Riley needs to call the offense with the same attitude & precision in which Lynn does with our defense. A high level of belief & conviction in our play calls is a must.

I will say. I'm a born and raised Michigan fan but SC has been my second favorite team to watch going back to when I started 6th grade and my elementary middle and highschool were all the same district and I played football from my 6th through 12th grades. We were or are the Trojans and so that got me as a child watching usc. Plus the colors and helmets are amazing so yeah I just really love SC as long as it's not vs Michigan. I happen to think sc will learn and grow from this game. The have been battle tested and wind face anyone as physical as Michigan so the fact they held their own despite a lot going against them I believe shows a ton of grit and character. I believe SC will make the playoffs if they can just get that Oline tightened up a bit
@chriswicecarver3715Ай бұрын
I'm a Michigan fan. Good game. Actually, very fun. Competitive. To address the referee thing...I am going to admit that (on replay) there were a couple facemasks and other calls that should have gone against us. But I will also say that what we (as fans) have is replay and slow-motion. None (or at least most) of these were in live gameplay at full speed with all of the other things you have to look at. In other words, if you had a referee and told him "the only thing I want you to do is watch #55 on defense against the Guard/Tackle on USC"...and then slow the play down a bit...if you do that, then 90% of those calls would (or should) have been made. But when you have a referee looking at 6--10 different people, all in motion, all at full-speed...on a facemask that was there for 1.5 seconds...I think an objective person could concede where it was missed. Problem is, we're all fans and there is no objectivity here. We've had that go against us in games against ohio and others and I can empathize with the outrage from your side.

I certainly don’t love this take. But I recognize that you’re giving it your best effort to be diplomatic and I respect you for it.

Calls get missed all the time the problem is that a lot of those calls were literally right in front of a ref. The horse collar tackle and blindside were right in front of refs and didn’t get called. LR should stick to the BASICS ALSO, such as good blocking & tackling (Head Coach has to hold his Coaches ACCOUNTABLE/ Henson). Deep down I feel the Coaching Staff will succeed. Only disappointed that the EXTRA WEEK did not translate into doing the basics well. 3 bad defensive snaps undid massive defensive effort, especially "tackles for loss", great job guys. It's a dogfight out there every week in the B10. There will be offensive holding on most plays if you slow it down and really watch. It was clear to me that the Michigan defender purposefully rode Lemon into that blind side block (watch it again). It was a tag team blindside block that refs should get fired for missing. Not to mention the 2 missed face masks and missed horse collar. This is not even a matter of a lost game, but we are missing several players due to injury as a result of these egregious and dangerous plays. Miller, Lane, and Lemon were all tweaked/injured from those plays. Also, if you can’t “chop” block anymore, why do they let players “chop” tackle. That tackle on Lake was a shot directly to his knees and no where near a thigh shot. Big guys have to deal with this all the time. I saw a lot of dirty plays out there by Michigan.
@princea5886Ай бұрын
The Lemon hit was the only dirty play. A low hit is legal. It's on the QB and the receiver to protect themselves from them. If you can't hit a guy high (Which is good. CTE is very real), then you have to be able to go low. It sucks to see a guy get hurt, but his QB hung him out to dry and the defender made the play. It's just part of the game. The facemasks were accidental and inconsequential to the plays. Yes, they were fouls, but there's no way the refs could have seen them. Those guys were already wrapped up and going down, and the tackler immediately let go of the facemask, which is why the refs didn't see it. The Lemon hit is indefensible. This is exactly what people were talking about with USC needing time to adjust to B10 play and officiating. It's a dogfight every week, and you're probably not going to get the same calls you got in the PAC12

What is it with you and branch he had 6 catches for 98 yards?
@stormnation8910Ай бұрын
Also 2nd on the team with catches. Don’t know why he’s trying to get everyone to hate Branch and Bear 🐻 so badly 🤔
@joshuagray5094Ай бұрын
If I had to guess, I would assume it’s because of the drops. Branch has dropped quite a few passes, usually bc he’s not watching it hit his hands and running before he has it
@stormnation8910Ай бұрын
@@joshuagray5094 name a WR who has never dropped a pass. It’s okay, I’ll wait. Everyone especially sophomore players make mistakes at some point

What did I say? That he hasn’t proven to be a game breaker? That’s just factual, I’ve frequently called him the most talented athlete on the team. But if you want to make up narratives go on ahead
@lakersdodgers6742Ай бұрын
@@TheTrojanBlade I mean he was the best receiver in this game and this was the best performance in a game by a receiver other than kyron in the first game. You’ve been saying he hasn’t proved to be a receiver to me 98 yards 6 catches isn’t just a receiver but a great one at that. I get that you ere critical after his freshman year but I was expecting you to give him his flowers this game he deserved it

Just to be fair Michigan at least committed 3 face masks, 1 blindside tackle, 1 horse collar, and 4 holds. They should have been called for 13 to 14 penalties instead just the 3. Not saying that USC would have won, but those things do play a roll. What helped on the 3rd quarter was that Riley attcked that defense. He finally opened that pass offense and Michigan couldn't really stop it. Adjustments were made to do so, but in the 4th Riley did the exact same thing he's always done, run it like a bumbling idiot. All he had to do was keep that killer instinct and take that game, but instead he made aweful play calls that allowed the Michigan defense time to reset. Im tired of him making apologies for bad play calls when it's always his mindset that leads to those play calls. Sorry, but apology not accepted. Until he can pass the eye test and show the results of playing all 4 quarters to win the game, I don't believe things will simply get better. Pete Carroll would ask his players if they can win in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters and that players would yell no. Riley sure thinks he can. Winning the game means winning in the 4th quarter just as much as the other quarters. Our guys did really well. I'm proud with the lengths they've gone to be where they're at. Still plenty of room for improvement, but they are improving from game to game.

Spot on Gabe! You are the best. These Michigan homers continue to discount the shitty and egregious refereeing in the game. It’s ok, I like out chances this year much more than Michigan’s. Fight on!

Welcome to the B10. What you see as horrible officiating is called B10 football. There will be holding on every play. It won't get called. You're going to have to adjust.

Bro love the channel but your Bear takes starting to feel like a vendetta, considering you said he got blown 5 yard down field when Bear was only moved 2 yards, the line of scrimmage was the 20, he's at the 22 and about to shed #71 and throw him to the ground. AND it was a double team #71 and #17 both 6'6 330lbs and 250lbs respectively, almost 600lbs of human beings blocked him. We appreciate your channel and critiques but to be honest it comes off as a personal dig instead of analysis after a while. FightOn ✌🏾 Beat Wisconsin

All the Trojan fans are talking about the officials and that's fine but I challenge them to rewatch the game in detail like your a Michigan fan and tell me how many penalties could have been called on sc . Especially line holding. Just saying it's the eye of the beholder. Calls could and probably should have gone both ways but than the game would have just been dumb with all the laundry
@ChristopherBishop-w1bАй бұрын
Yeah I guess you guys are used to putting players in the hospital with cheap shots and acting like it’s normal. Just have the offensive line bear hug everyone because you won’t be getting called. I watched it all day and it was despicable. And USC still should have won with nothing at all being called against Michigan.

Somewhat disappointed because SC should have "totally" keyed on Michigan's run game. Should have stopped the run better, Michigan can't pass the rock. 🏈
