Damp proof and first timber

We have FINALLY moved beyond all of the rubble and excavation - it was such a relief, not to be digging around in the dirt or hauling heavy bags up absurdly steep steps...!
We installed the damp proof membrane to ensure the timbers we install stay rot and damp free - even though they are treated timbers, it's a good policy to ensure no moisture can get into them, so having them sit on/in a damp proof membrane is the best way to go.
I also installed two telescopic vents which mean there is fresh air circulating underneath the floor - although this seems counter intuitive, the biggest cause of damp and rot is a lack of air and the presence of moisture. The combination of the DPM and the vents ensure that there won't be any moisture.
Next time, we start running the suspended timbers across the floor.
