See, i disagree. To a point it is actually groundbreaking. Okay, princess and dragon shtick, a dime a dozen. But dragons always always always either eat the princess or trap her. The princess never climbs out of the hole and tames the dragon. The princess never gets to have that final confrontation with the family that locked her away. She always goes from being locked up to "you're free! Now go get married and produce an heir, preferably a son." I think this was a very refreshing take. The princess never gets to save herself, she always has to rely on someone else. She had no one else here, she had to rely on her own strength, willpower and grit.
@MangaPup3 ай бұрын
@@redvalentinos1933 idk what princess movies you've been watching but the princess saving herself or her family or home isn't relatively new lol. Disney for example, hasn't really done a "damsel in distress" fr since their earlier couple princesses imo. And even then it's fine because...variety. Once Upon A Time , and more. The part of this movie that was actually unpredictable to me was that she teamed up with the dragon rather than killing it. But yeah the ppl that keep on complaining about "oh those stories about princesses needing help" or whatever dont seem like they've actually watched much about princesses since the 80s or something lol.

@@redvalentinos1933 Except her own little sister, her stepmother and that would-be victim... and the freaked out servants were rescued by the heroine herself. And... the dragon could've easily just eaten Elodie out of hunger/rage.... yet spared Elodie because the latter told her the truth. In the end Elodie gambled with her own survival against a vengeful creature and won. But I'll be honest I like classic princess tales, but it's cool to see a princess be both feminine and heroic all at once.
