I learned to swing dance from my brother, back in 1999, and continued to have a few lessons at different universities. My husband, Dan, learned swing dancing at his university's swing dance club (where we met and where my brother and I would later teach swing). We choreographed this dance on our own. Thank you again for the kind comments; I was flattered.

Thank You! We met swing dancing, so we already knew the style of dancing. We choreographed this dance ourselves. I think counting the choreographing, it probably took us about 3 months to get it ready.

Several competitive dancers, web surfers, ABC 20/20, and the Rachel Ray show found this performance extremely entertaining. Our guests congratulated us on a wonderful performance, told us they were very entertained, and that our wedding was the most fun they had ever attended. You have nothing to feel sorry for. Cesar, love the comeback.

Thanks! We met through swing dancing in 2001. Usually, with swing dancing, you don't really dance with a regular partner all the time (you go to an event and dance with whoever's there). So we had been dancing together for about 5 years, but not necessarily as regular dance partners. We decided to surprise our guests with this dance, which we choreographed and practiced for about 2 months. It was fun!

Thank you for your kind comments! We got married on July 29th, 2006, so we recently celebrated our 1st year anniversary. We're enjoying married life. My brother posted this so my family in Brazil (who could not make it to the wedding) could view it. We never imagined it would get this many views. I wouldn't say I feel famous, though we have had 2 requests for use of this video on T.V. shows (we were on CBC's i-caught and Rachael Ray has contacted us as well).

(this is Mariana). The brand is Ecco. They often have comfy shoes with good arch support. Also, it was the only pair I could find at the time that worked with my orthotics. The shoes definitely helped, but I wouldn't say I had no pain... If you look closely, you'll see my left foot is moving strangely, I was trying hard not to land on my toe when I did the aerials (jumps). Bei Mir Bist Du Schone is a commonly used dance song in the swing dancing scene. Thanks for the compliment!

Congrats, this was great! I love that the bride chose an outfit in which she can dance, I always thought that doing what you enjoy is more important than following some stupid tradition. I am sure you also enjoyed the wedding preparations more this way, it must have been so much fun to work together on your routine. The song choice is excellent and you look very cute together. This is what a wedding should be about, two people being happy, enjoying what they are doing together!

Some spell it this way, I think the original version is Bei Mir Bistu Shein, or even Bay mir bistu sheyn (it was a Yiddish song originally). There are many versions of it, this one is from Janis Siegel I think. I heard it first in the movie Swing kids and I fall in love with it, it is one of my favorites. Btw, I recommend this movie to anyone who likes this music and dance.

I think it means: "By me you are beautiful" in Yiddish. For my best knowledge you've spelled it pretty much right, since there are no defined rules how to spell Yiddish, using English alphabet. BTW absolutely great dancing. Its very unique when the bride and the groom becoming the centre of the entertainment in their own wedding.

NO not big feet! I'm the same size!! I was actually wondering what brand of shoe because I never liked dancing in high heels as much. And wow, you said you had a broken toe then, so you got some great shoes to allow the flexibility of dancing with none of the pain of the broken toe! Awesome job! I had never heard that song used as a dance song (but hey, I've had a sheltered life!). Was a great performance!! Mazel Tov!

(this is Mariana) I may not have been taller than him (I'm 5'7 and he's 6'3), but I always choose comfort over beauty. I think that being "feminine" is a societal construct that many women have bought into, to their detriment: the expectation that women must put up with discomfort to be real women. I don't believe in that. Further, I broke my big toe two weeks before the wedding in a bad bicycle accident. Thus, I definitely preferred comfort over beauty.
