Doesn't mean that they won't be in it. Just that they are not as important in it moving forward. Zeddemore is the money behind the Ghostbusters, but Ray Stantz would be a resource for the history, going with the research done by Zeddemore. Spengler 's family will likely carry forward. Tully is probably doing their taxes. Janine is still involved. So just unsure of one character.

Nope, if its not OG anymore, best lay the franchise to rest. Star wars has been mercifully flogged until its skin peeled off, Indianna Jones has gone the same way, we didnt need the last film. Robery Zamekis got it right with Back to the Future, be told a perfect, three movie story that had a beginning, middle and end that ties up all the loose ends....we dont need another one. Same with Ghostbusters, it was never going to be the same again with a 35 year gap between the first two films and Afterlife. Afterlife was indeed a nice way to see the OG crew back in action and honour Harold Ramis but it should have been the third act of a trilogy....their swansong where they should have had the one last battle, handed over the torch and hung up the suits for good and just left it at that maybe with kids riding off to their first bust as an ending. Frozen Empire was to much of the same Fan Worship, now dont get me wrong, I dearly love the franchise, cosplay with all the props and get my Ecto to as many events and comic cons as I can....but the movie had way to many cast memebers vying for screen time and it was so disappointing that the "Frozen" part didnt happen earlier on the film...the frozen landscape would have made a wonderful backdrop for most of the film rather than the last third or so of it. There was just too much going on and the whole implied Phoebe/ghost girl thing was just well, wierd and really didnt work, it was a bit woke and cringe, the story didnt need that arc to get Garraka out of his orb....that screen time coould have neen put to better use. Speaking of which, Garraka.....we had to wait most of the film to see it and the battle was an anticlimax. Now granted we didnt see gozer until the end of the first film, but we had the Terror dogs doing their thing along so much wonderful comedic fill in that it didnt matter, the build up was great. I think if the OG cast has had enough, and I cant blame them, its time to let it go rather than flogging it to death...go out on a high rather than a whimper. Id watch another one if the OG crew were in it to hand over the torch for good and be done with it, but without the OGs I dont think I could. Heres the kicker, hang out with any Ghostheads and the quotes and lines from the first two films will come thick and fast, just like with my fellow Ghostheads when we get together for an event.... How many funny lines can you remember from Afterlife and Empire....not many I bet and that says it all in my opinion.... The first two films had that magical lightning in a bottle...sadly after 35 years....the charge is all but gone.....one more...maybe...but its gotta be goodbye this time.❤

At the end of the day, I'm going to watch every future "Ghostbusters" movie, regardless of the plot or cast, but it would feel weird without Dan Aykroyd or Bill Murray's involvement in some way. I saw another comment saying it would be cool to see an official retirement scene. That's a great idea! Maybe the movie opens on their retirement party and it gets crashed by a ghost, and we get to see them capture one last ghost before the title card and then the rest of the movie commences.

My interest in the recently talked about fifth film just sadly plummeted lol I genuinely don't know if I'm ready for that. Bit risky. I think they should rest the series for about 4-5 years if the original cast really don't want to do another. There's no need to rush into yet another film in two years time. Let McKenna and Logan Kim age up. They all just did a big movie. Maybe they all need time to get excited about doing another in a fresh way again. Still, "what a ride" we all had. Ten years ago we only had a controversial reboot to look forward to. To have two new adventures for Peter and Ray was unthinkable back then. We got lucky.

I'm just going to outright say it. Maybe if they hadn't disappeared for 35 gdamn years then maybe we would have gotten more of the Og's. MABYE if Dan Aykroyd hadn't been screwed over with his initial ghostbusters 3 idea, then maybe we would have seen a lot more of the Og's. And maybe if Harold Ramis didn't die then we would still have the OG ghostbusters in full. I'll always watch new ghostbusters media it just won't feel the same at all without the Og's except for Ernie Hudson since he made it clear that he is in it for the long haul. I'm upset 😢

Its a lot more complicated then that. Columbia wouldn't back the film back then for a few reasons. Bill didn't want to do it because he wasn't happy with the result of 2 at the time but he has come around since people and fans talk more pleasant about it. Bill also fell out with Harold Ramis after groundhog day and they hadn't spoken or worked together up until Harold was about to pass. Columbia wouldn't back the film because Murrary wasn't going to be in it and they felt the film wouldn't be bankable. Also at one point Reitman didn't want to make the film either. Let's also not forget that Bill was not happy with how Ernie wasn't getting the same amount of screen time and made it very clear that he wouldn't do another film unless Ernie got the same amount of pay and screen time.

I’ll be honest. I’m surprised he came back for frozen empire. Seeing that he’s been reluctant to continue anything Ghostbusters related for decades. That being said him and Dan Aykroyd are friends so aroid said he likely won’t come back. It’s probably cause Bill told him that.

I think the new movie franchise would had a better success if they went the Extreme Ghostbusters route. Instead of Egon... Winston and Ray would teach the college kids. The newer cast are not that interesting, Phoebe became more annoying in FE and the rest was boring. In my humble opinion.

Oh no. ☹️ Dan IS the BEGINNING of this. After returning in Frozen Empire, and Ray telling Winston this is how he wants to “spend his Golden Years”, it looked like he was returning as a GB. Maybe even sold the book store & invested whatever 💴 into GB and team up as Sr. GB partners w/ Winston & Venkman continuing on, working with / training the new generation unto death. That’s how I saw this play out. But, I get it. Time to move on,…IF you REALLY CAN & want to. Mr. Akroyd, , please, please, PLEASE NEVER, EVER sell your ownership rights of this franchise to ANYONE. Hold ON to this. Keep it safe & original. Even IF you don’t return to the big screen. May Jason Reitman keep it real at the helm in its future. As a 40 YEAR fan from 8yr. old, I will ALWAYS hold this SOLID staple of my childhood in my ❤. This has gotten me thru some hard times in my life & helped me in my vast range of creativity. I would really hope the original cast would be involved at some capacity similar to their screen time in Afterlife. I truly enjoyed seeing Ray getting the screentime he got in Frozen Empire, it was unexpected for me but I would agree with him about stepping back going forward, but use the original cast when necessary.

Me& & my& littles haven't seen it yet. Haven't even made time for an episode of the Real Ghostbusters or watching the original films since discovering that we're an OSDD-1b system. Dang, we haven't even seen an episode of Ghostbusters News since before finding out we weren't a singlet. We seriously need a break from going to college online and maintaining a 4.0 GPA on top of trying to hold down a full time job and learning to live with a sometimes debilitating dissociative condition. Woof! It's a lot. Not to mention there's something strange in our neighborhood. No seriously. We've woken up to the sound of three knocks a couple times, and our TV glitches out in a really strange way from time to time. Pretty sure our ghosts are more on our side though, like Slimer in the cartoon series. And we don't have a Twinkie big enough to generate the required electricity to keep even one ghost contained even if we did want to trap them instead of just allowing them to help us. Anyways, we have to get back to studying slimes, mold, and fungii. (In actuality it's an Audio Production degree. And no, we don't have a Spengler or a Holtzmann fictive. Or maybe we do? A girl never tells.)

Dan said in an interview in 2021 that theyre open to 3 more including afterlife, so theyd have one more movie left, but if they dont appear and it's just winston,im ok with that but they should have a proper send off in my opinion.

I think the next film should continue with a new cast dropping The Spengler Family with a new team that is in line with the original Ghostbusters along with the comedy and horror, I think that McKenna Grace should be in cameos though her story is done keep on Paul Rudd as a Ghostbuster.

I feel like they should have, and still have not given us a proper Ghostbusters 3. Ray, Winston and Venkman were the highlites of Frozen Empire and should have been the forefront focus. Yes the new cast is good and I do like them, but the movie should have been about the original team mentoring the new crew from the beginning.

Its sad to me, but am completely ok with it. Murray/Venkman is easily my favorite. His role in the last film just felt forced and unnecessary, although I obviously enjoyed seeing him. Ive wanted the proper sequel with the og's for decades. Unfortunately that time has passed. They are way too old now to make it believable. Seeing them pop up at the end of Afterlife was epic!!! Was excited that they returned for Frozen Empire, but for me personally it was kind of a bust except for Ray. Enjoyed the movie overall though. I look forward to more. Hoping that the creative team can be slightly more creative next time around.

I don't see much of a need for Peter Venkman, but Ray would be preferable imo. I mean unless there's a story to be told between Venkman and Dana that hasn't been told yet, Ray's the only real person left who can be the exposition/ghost loredump character.
