Not even close... after BUD/S comes even more training with 6 months of advanced training (SQT) and then jump training, and SERE training. After that, you get your trident, and get put on a team. You train with them until you work up for a deployment, you get tested as a team before you're ever approved to go over seas. Then when you get home, you have a little rest time before you have to do the same thing all over again.

I'm sure it was tough and grueling and I have a lot of admiration for someone that can go through this even once, but the poster is right. He failed SEAL training twice. Being a team player is what being a SEAL is all about and he admitted he wasn't a team player. I'm glad that in his eyes he "finished SEAL training" because in the rest of the world's eyes he didn't. This takes nothing away from his grit, determination, dedication, and overall badassness. He's most definitely one of the toughest MFers out there. That said, he did not finish SEAL training.

It'd be more surprising if his legs didn't have stress fractures after hell week. Lots of guys blackout underwater too or "meet the wizard" at least once and if you already have pneumonia they might not be able to revive you. Guys have actually died in BUDS. It's not some tough workout, the sane ones are those who quit. To push yourself to the extent that seals do you have to be a little fucking crazy.

This guy is a legend in his own mind. Dan Bilzerian was kicked out of BUD/s for disrespecting officers and for being in the whole special warfare business for himself which is a bad thing. He states that he was two days before graduating to becoming a SEAL but that isn't true. He was a few weeks from accomplishing BUD/s which isn't even close to half of the training a person must recieve in order to become a Navy SEAL. On average a person gets trained for 3 years before they become a SEAL. Dan Bilzerian only completed about five months of training.

Now; if you want to hear a similar story from a guy who went thru THREE TIMES and finally made it; check out DAVID GOGGINS! I served seven years in NSW; this guy (Bilzerian) is arrogant and seems to have entitlement issues - he’s not what’s needed in the Teams.

I don't know if this guy is for real are not, but I can understand his story.i went into the army in 81, and I knew I had a bad back, I have a birth defect in my lower back, in the L4-L5 area. when I was a kid I bucked Hay every summer cause I grew up in a farm area in Washington. one summer when I was 13 years old, and the end of a long hard Hot day of Bucking Hay, me and some other boys that I worked with, we did what all boys would do, and we jump of the Hey truck and the end of the day when we got back to the barn. And when I hit the ground, I was frozen in pain, I could not move my legs. So my mother took me to the Doctor, and that when I found out that I had this birth defect in my lower back. The Doctor told me that if I lived a hard life, by the time I was in my 40s I would done lol, like pain everyday intell I die, plus he told me the Army would never take me. Well when my back got better I went on with my life ignoring everything that the Doctor told me, and my back never bothered me again. I played Highschool football for 4 years, I was a starting Tackle for both offence and Defence, when I got out of Highschool I studied Karate for a year, and then I decided to see if the army would take me. as long as they did not take a x-ray of my Back I was sure not going to say anything lol, I wanted to be a Green Beret, but could not get a contract for that, But I could get a contract to be a Ranger. So they did not take a x-ray of my back, so I signed up and off I went. I went to Fort Benning for Basic, and Airborne school, then I went to Ft. Lewis to be in the 2nd/75 Ranger Battalion. I went through RIP[ now its called RASP] and I hurt my Back on one of the 5 jumps you have to do to make it through RIP. I hurt my back on one of my jumps, and had to go through rehab for 5 days, they took a x-ray of my back and saw my problem with my L-4 and L-5 area, but just like this guy here I begged then to not kix me out, and sence I had gone through a lot of training up to that point they let me continue if I COULD. well I went back to RIP and got rolled back to the next class, so I went through RIP twice, but I graduated!!! My class had 68 guys in it and only 24 of us made it. So when they put that Beret on my Head and gave me my Battalion Ribbon I was very proud! so I went into the Battalion and begain my life as a Ranger. I went through a lot of hard Ranger training, and was considered every Bit a Ranger as those who were able to go through the Ranger school at Ft. Benning. if you make it into the Ranger Batt. The Army looks at you as a 100% Ranger. and anyone who has been in the Ranger Battalion can tell you that is true. but the whole year I was in the Ranger Battalion I had to fight very bad back pain, and what made it even harder for me I was on a Gun team, and had to Jump and Hump with the 60. But I had to get out early cause of my back. I had to take to many Pain pills to cope... and so today at 58 years old, iam on disability. But I wear my Ribbon and my jump wings on my leather vest and iam very proud of what I went through serving in the 2nd/75 Ranger Battalion.

1460 days in the military, 56 days are spent at recruit training, and he spent 510 at seal training. That means at most he spent 894 days or almost 2 and 1/2 years "serving". Not to include his technical training and OJT where he was probably useless. All in all he might have spent a little over a year actually contributing to the NAVYs mission but wants to sport a beard and act like an operator, but runs away from an active shooter as helpless people lie bleeding behind him. Tough guy.

Ken Cranston So him grabbing a gun changes the first part of what you said? Nobody knew where the dude was. There were plenty of courageous people staying behind to help with the wounded and casualties. This dude chose to run away thinking he would "help" by taking 15+ minutes to go grab his gay ass pistol from his truck when a SWAT team was already dispatched. Plus some random dude running around a scene brandishing a firearm in the midst of the chaos would really go great with police. You sure are a true fucking dumbass aren't you?

I'm sure inheriting a trust fund would make shin splints feel like broken legs, huh there, Dan? Also, any one who gets kicked out of seal training for talking back to an instructor is not only weak but an embarrassment. Thank god the seals have an excellent training program that weeds out weak, arrogant, and overall pathetic individuals like this. He learned nothing from his experience at seal training, because any body who actually got kicked out for some thing that pathetic wouldn't talk about it in the smug way. I can't believe this guy has the privilege to enjoy the same freedom that the men and women serving risk their lives fighting for.

I was a 19 year old newly minted Seaman Recruit (May of 1994), attending my apprenticeship training course in Great Lakes Recruit Training Center, waiting to watch a movie (on liberty in Chicago the weekend after graduating basic training). This hulk comes over and sits next to me and asks me what command I'm with and I tell him how I just graduated bootcamp and will be starting Seaman ATD on Monday and then I'm to report to my ship in San Diego. He tells me how I have more guts than he does because he's terrified of being stuck on a ship for months at a time. We both laugh. Then I ask what he does. He informs me that he is an active duty Seal who is currently stationed over on the NTC side of the same base helping prepare guy's who are in A school and have orders to go onto BUD/S. I was in my dress whites and he may have been in civies but he looked like an action figure. We shook hands. I was encouraged by that. We all measure ourselves as to what we can and can't handle. Service members of good character value the service of others in addition to their own. I'm glad Dan Bilzerian has been honest about his service. People should let him tell his life story and let him put it, in its right context. Anyone attempting Seal training and going from beginning to end, multiple times deserves to be heard.

'There are MANY factors that go into what happens after you drop out/fail BUD/S. The first is, of course, WHY you failed. If you have a medical problem, and the staff views you favorably, you’ll likely get rolled into the PTRR ( Physical Training Rest and Recuperation) Division until you recover fully (or near fully) and then get rolled into the next available class. If the Phase Instructors or your Proctor don’t like you, you’ll just get med dropped and sent to the fleet. (more on this in a minute) If you DOR (Drop on Request), you’ll simply go to the fleet. If it’s something administrative (you got a DUI on liberty, you didn’t pass your Secret Clearance, etc.) you’ll likely receive some kind of NJP (non-judicial punishment) from the Captain …. THEN you’ll go to the fleet. Are you sensing a theme yet?? Now, IF the staff determines, for whatever reason, that you’re NOT going to get a roll to a later class and that you’re going to go out to the fleet, there are a few different ways this can play out. If you’re brand new, straight from Great Lakes (read: Boot Camp and Pre-BUD/S), then you won’t have a rate yet. You are officially “undesignated”. If the staff doesn’t like you, they’ll just send you to the fleet undesignated. You’ll get a complete shit job and will have to “strike” for a rate while you’re at your new command. What shit-tastic job you get as an “undesignated” is determined entirely by the needs of the Navy. Get used to hearing that. What it means in this context is that all the utterly crappy jobs they can get enough people to sign up for (BMs, HTs, MSs, etc…) not only do you go to one of these divisions to work, you go there at the bottom of the totem pole! If, however, the staff gives you a decent exit eval, you’ll likely be allowed to go and pick a new rate and get orders to that A-school. Just understand that is NOT a guarantee!! Some of the guys that were exceptional, but just not quite good enough, I know got to pick SWCC, EOD, or Diver schools. Those are all still in NSW and quite prestigious in their own rights. Other guys I know got to pick ET, MM, HM, and even SeaBees. Now, if you’re coming from the fleet and already have an existing rate, you’ll simply go back to the fleet and continue working in that rate. You may or may not go back to your initial command. That decision depends on several factors including how long you’ve been gone and if your position at your old command (billet) has already been filled. The thing you need to understand is that you start building your reputation within the community the DAY you step foot on the Strand. Lock in the mindset that you’re being watched 24/7. ALWAYS do the right thing and ALWAYS work hard!! The instructor staff WILL see you and take note. If they see you putting out 100% every day, every evolution, but, for whatever reason you’re just not quite up to the mark, they WILL take care of you. However, the converse is ALSO true….if you’re a shit-bag who only looks out for himself, they’ll find a way to make you quit…and you’ll get ZERO slack on the way out of town…'

@Jorden Meader Who did he save? He was literally called out publicly by the Las Vegas Metro Police for demanding that a cop who was taking cover from gunfire give him a gun. The whole thing was livestreamed.

Surely SEAL Team training starts after you pass the selection process? So, if you don't pass the selection element, how can you graduate?

Granted I am not in the SEAL community but I have never heard of anyone making it to 3rd phase and being "2 days away", and being rolled back the entire way back to phase 1 again. Something seems fishy here. Every guy I have ever read or seen ,who was rolled for medical or performance reasons, gets rolled to the beginning of that phase. Unless they kick you out for an integrity failure (in which how would you be allowed back), or obviously if you quit. Also, finishing BUDS doesn't make you a SEAL. You still have jump school and SQT before you get your Trident. Would love to know the real story because I don't think we are getting it here

You are more than likely correct. I was at Buds and know the story's very very well. I hope he feels better about himself as he obviously is in pain about something else in his life. Those scares are not easily hidden and his are on his sleeves.
