Dan Brown is underrated….

His books are fun and interesting to read but the prose is childishly simple. I would not really consider it serious literature just popular fiction. What do u think? Aside from the research on science and religion does it really have artistic/literary merit? I would answer in the negative.

I cannot really take him seriously after reading Hemingway, Faulkner, Melville, Cormac McCarthy, Poe etc. Same for JK Rowling, I would say. Just a popular author who appeals to the masses but serious lit buffs would not get much from it.
