I just listened to "I Need You" and now this gem. I can only imagine that somewhere above, Dan is giving one heck of a concert to the angels. Again, Beggarsgame, I want to Thank You and the rest of the beautiful souls who supply these priceless memories...

I am grateful to be on this mailing list and included in this video group. Thank you for the continual gifts from Dan Fogelberg that we all receive from you folks. So sing out loud the lyrics that have molded our lives and share with those who just weren't aware of what he had to offer to us all.

I know what you mean. How cool to have met him and known him. I understand how that amplifies the loss. I'm glad we've had a chance to share a few memories. Talk to you later.

Thanks again for these tremendous generous gifts from Beggarsgame& BPRUD. Interesting song choice? He could sing the phone book as for as I was concerned. Love his sense of humor! Wish he was still here with us. God, seems to take the good ones early! Why?

It really does amplify it. I keep thinking of the conversations we had; what I could/should have said, etc. So many things I've since thought of that I wish with all my heart I could say/ask. I'd been hoping to work with him again; now I know that it'll never happen. It's taken that spark of excitement out of my career. I shouldn't complain. I know that tons of people would give anything to meet him even once, and I try to keep that in my thoughts, it's just been very hard lately...

@bananamansouth Not many artists today interact with their audience anymore and are full of bad dancing, gimmicks, etc. Part of Dan's gift and charm, together with his music, was being part of his audience. To me, that is very special!

Beggarsgame, I don't know who you are, but I thank you a million times over for sharing all these wonderful videos of old, new, and undiscovered Dan. I worked with Dan, and knowing that I never will again, or ever go to another concert, or ever see him again is sometimes overwhelming. I can't get past his loss. Your posts (and the others' as well) have been more helpful to me than you can imagine; they make me smile, they make me laugh, and I hope you keep them coming.

No one does this song as well as the artist who wrote it, Tim Hardin. And it not chauvanistic. It was written by a man deeply in love.

Dan could make any song sound like it was his own...which was usually better than the original!

It's related, I think, to "Gypsy Davey", and "Lady and the Gypsy" rooted in old, old folk songs.

Love the comment"chuk em'on the barby" How witty he was,a true smart ass!!Love it! I read a woman yelled out to Dan,to sing Nether Lands,in his late part of his career. His comments was "Did you have Scotch for breakfast"? I thought it was funny as hell!. My god, what was she thinking? He wasn't able to hit those high notes in years.I read that she was insulted by what he said.I felt she insulted Dan by asking him to sing a song, that he knew he could no longer do.She had leftovers from the 70's.

As an educated woman, I an not offended by having my baby..it's from the man's point of view, fact remains: woman carries the baby, man fathers the baby. BOTH are stil equals : ) I would of loved having Dan's baby. He never had children, I wonder why?

I don't understand why Dan would even consider this song to be chauvinistic? All the guy is asking the woman is to marry him no matter what his occupation is. I mean, if she TRULY loved him, then she wouldn't cared what kind of money he makes. But then, the modern day woman is kind of narcissitic, self- centered,high-strung, and high maintenance. If they take it as an offense, then who cares? We can't figure out what you gals want anyway. Nor should we. So take us or leave us...

Leon Russell did a version that's as good as Darin's and much better than this one. Dan F just took it too far form Hardin's original...to each his own, that's what makes music great. Unfortunately, I just can't find the Russell version anywhere.
