I think a lot of people who don't know /understand/ like fighting see fighters as being knuckleheads. The reality is they are usually very smart people. Dan is a perfect example of this.
@MadAboutBusiness

What Dan did was morally correct... However, when a commentator shouts STOP THE FIGHT on air it's like the UFC stating their sport is dangerous. Having had similar happen to me, I know that was the moment he was fired... Taking him off to Fight Island was just what was needed to be done from a HR standpoint to get him on a couple other things before he was terminated without recourse. It was VERY calculated.

What about Daniel cormier doing the same thing Saturday?
@MadAboutBusiness
@MadAboutBusiness 2 жыл бұрын
@@alexhopps1826 - That's down to the UFC. It would also depend upon the ref and his favouritism. I know Herb has businesses that Endeavor (UFC owners) back - and so the shareholders would have been pissed with Dan. The politics would have run deep. Dana loves DC and so would at best pulled him to one side, but I think the fight you are referring to is the one where ALL parties agreed the stoppage was late and so there would have been no one gunning for DC's head... They were all in agreeance. Herb has celebrity status, vitamin water that the owners have invested in, and Dan had an empty arena and so it rang loud. I think that's the difference, though I am speculating.

@@MadAboutBusiness it wasnt even that serious. If serious was doing his job right, he’d have stopped the fight. Dan had a human moment that he apologized for but he showed human empathy and a fighter’s fighter mentality
@MadAboutBusiness
@MadAboutBusiness 2 жыл бұрын
@@rima7286 I agree 100%, but what he did was unforgivable when you have shareholders sadly. I'm 100% behind Dan, but I've been in business long enough to know that when you 'flame the companies product - human moment or not - it's a coffin that needs just that one nail. There was no going back. As you said, he had a moment and it wasn't enough for gross misconduct - but in a sport where regulation could step in any time, and your own commentator is suggesting the UFC is putting their fighters in danger, they had to take him out - as would have been instructed by the owners/Ari. The shenanigans on Fight Island were simply trying to get him on a couple more things to warrant his firing - but if it wasn't the fall out with the woman, they'd have gotten him on something else. He was passionate - but made a dumb mistake. He implied in front of millions of viewers that a fighter's life was in danger - and all whist he was on the company pay roll.

It speaks volumes about Dana Whites character that he won't even acknowledge Dan about being fired, especially as Dana was always such a fan of Dan as a fighter. As far as the Herb Dean incident goes, it's only a matter of time before we see a fighter left as a vegetable after taking unessasary punishment. Dana White will stand at the post fight press conference and say what a tragedy it is and someone will have to be accountable for it,oh,the irony of it all.
