I love mine more than I thought I would. Seems like most micro brand emphasize checking all the boxes - sapphire, ceramic bezel etc but Dan Henry focuses on just making a value driven watch that feel retro. I'm a fan of their whole lineup.

mr bacchus totally agree. A cohesive design is way better than a “spec sheet” watch that has the desirable specs but not much else.

It's a great little watch. I'm really happy with mine. Picked one up for a friend as well, He loves it. Great review dude. I got the diver as well before they were all gone. Major bang for buck!

I already own the 1970. I'm considering this one as 64 was my birth year. The 1970 is a brilliant watch particularly at that price. I see what you mean about the bracelet. I wear mine in the same spot. Some of the more rigid bracelets dig in. Looks like that one follows the contours of your wrist. My only hesitation is having large wrists, just over 8", a 38 will be too small for me. Great review, cheers!

Hello, good content on the channel. I have the Gold 1962 watch from Dan Henry. Where did you get this bracelet? I see it's curved at the ends. I have seen only straight endings. Thanks.

Thanks! This is actually the stock bracelet that came with the 1964. I think it is one of the few DH that actually comes with a bracelet.

I have the no date evil panda for 6 months and love it. I usually only buy and wear mechanical watches. This is the first quartz watch (except Casio) I really wanted and I really like the "meca" part of it. Really nice chronograph. The movement is the most accurate I ever had, about 1 second fast a month but I guess that's just luck. Exceptional watch for the money. If I hear someones's looking for a new watch I always recommend Dan Henry and his timeline.watch site.

PS I use a leather conditioner on my straps. The same one I use on my boots. It protects from the sweat and salt and keeps them from cracking. Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP is excellent. It contains beeswax as well and smells really nice. Just a suggestion. I believe it may darken some leathers so keep that in mind.

How do you find the blue ar coating on the crystal? Is it too much?

I don't mind it, it adds a flash of blue when you are looking at the watch sometimes, but it doesn't bother me. If you are sensitive to it, you would notice.

No, if I recall correctly it is a very quiet quartz movement thankfully.

Why is the 24hr not zeroed? Does the mecaquartz movement provide a hack for the subregisters?

The 24 hour subregister isn't part of the chrono function, just based on the main time. The only subregister linked to the chrono is the minute totalizer at 9 o'clock, does that answer the question? (I wish the 24 hour subregister could be set to a second time zone...)

I don't think they will. The vast majority of watches will not, and I don't see Dan Henry becoming one of the ones that does, but who knows.

I believe the case thickness is 12.5mm - only going based on another well-known watch channel where the reviewer used calipers to measure. Every mm counts :)

Ah, thank you for the correction. Yes, every mm counts! I would double check but this one has moved on from the collection. Interestingly, they releases a two register version. I am holding out for a smaller version of the 1939 if they ever return to it.

Another vk63 quartz chrono. Almost abiquitous as the favourite of the microbrands nh35. I would prefer the Seagull Panda dial mechanical column wheel chronograph in 38mm or 42mm with a Sapphire chrystal. Domed mineral chrystals are scratch magnets.

Great question! The long second hand is the running seconds for the chronograph function so it will only run when you hit the top pushed (which starts the chronograph). The running seconds for time is the small sub dial at the 6 o'clock position.

I have 6 1/4" wrist...have seen the Seiko lineup specially skx013 and not sure specially since I love autos.

@@watch_general6753 I don't think you could go wrong with either this or a skx013 for your wrist size. I had a skx007 and I really liked it, but I ended up transitioning to a Orient Ray II because I liked hacking and hand winding. As much as I like autos, not having to set the time in the morning is the nice part of quartz, but you wouldn't have that problem if the skx was your daily wear :) Let me know what you end up, happy hunting!

I'll be honest, I've had the money to buy one of the luxury brands for a while now and still do but I think about my motives. Sure, it would be a treat to own one but I'm in my 50s now. I live a pretty quiet life. Never was interested in trying to impress anyone. I get much more enjoyment out of trying out different watches. G Shocks, Seikos, Oris, and many more. It's just more interesting to me.

***Man's watch on a lady's strap*** I just recv'd my Dan Henry 1964 and although it is a somewhat decent watch, it is small. The area exposed inside the lugs look not finished and is the hallmark of a cheaply made case. Then there's the strap! Appalling to the point I can't wear it without feeling I am wearing my wife's watch. The strap tappers too much to the point that it feels like a child's toy watch and looks very small. Not a great feeling wearing it on the wrist. Too expensive to ship back so...

I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed. You should try Dan Henry customer support, they might help you out. Alternatively you might try a different strap. You do get used to the smaller watch head size after a few days, and a strap that doesn't taper as much might make it feel more substantial piece overall.

This watch is disappointing: very small case, poor lisibility... Moreover the bracelet is very difficult to put on.
