One sure way to quick progress in training is to work the movements you don't already do. In this clip from Dan John's DVD set, Intervention, Dan describes the movements and flips training upside down. For more information, please visit www.otpbooks.com/product/dan-j...

I think the TGU covers a lot of the essential movements. Do them non-stop for 10 mins and you'll soon discover what is used and not used. Great video

Dan, you're one of the best...but what about rotation/twist as the 6th.

Dan has a new book coming out, Intervention, which builds on the dvd material. In it, he details the five movements, plus one -- he uses the Turkish getup to cover moving the joints through the various planes of motion, both from a rotation standpoint, and to address both the mobility and stability of the major joints.

Not really. In a TGU, you lift a weight and move with it. It's a loaded carry. In a TGU, you bridge your hips, it's a hip hinge. In a TGU, you have to pack your shoulder in, it's a pull. In a TGU, you go from a lunge position to standing, it's a squat. The TGU is what brings all the other movements together, that's why it's the "sixth human movement" he mysteriously alludes to in this clip. You'd know this if you'd watched the DVD or read the book.

Everybody agrees the fundamental human movements are highly important, but nobody agrees what those movements are!

A person can't do EVERYTHING, your right a marathon runner can't bench four hundred , A four hundred pound bench presses can't run a seven minute mile, it is confusing so I do three compound movements hit a punching bag and occasionally run, but damnit now I wanna farmers walk, which by the way WORKED great for me before but I quit like a idiot ( no reason just winter time and I'm a home trainer) I can tell the results were there

A couple days per week I just carry my kettlebell into work with me and carry it back to my car afterwards. Easy way to get it in.

I have a question. Under which definition Kettlebell Turkish Get Up should be placed? Thanks.
@BrianCrillyMAT
@BrianCrillyMAT 11 жыл бұрын
The turkish get up should be placed underneath the category "PUSH" From there we can break it down to lunge, stability, core, grip, etc. Yet first and foremost it is a PUSH
