After a 20-year hiatus, longboarding has once again become ubiquitous in the surfing world. Whether you are a dedicated logger, a big-wave guy finding a way to stay frothy during the offseason, a high-fi shredder trying to clean up your style, or a beginner with a soft-top from Costco, virtually everyone out there owns some sort of longboard-inspired shape. The superior paddle power and trim of longer boards with more volume simply make surfing more fun-especially when the waves aren’t exactly pumping.
Of course, not everyone wants to ride a 10'0" log all the time, which is where high-performance longboards come in. Providing the benefits of logs, but in a slightly more manageable package, high-pro longboards are easy to surf and fun for just about everyone. Shaper Dan Mann has made a career out of building boards that help the average surfer have fun in average waves, so it is only natural that he would eventually shape a performance longboard. And Taylor Jensen is one of the best high-performance longboarders in the world and a three-time world champion, so it was sort of a no-brainer for Jensen and Mann to team up.
