It’s the blatancy that’s so alarming. We all know what teams and stars have been doing with rest and load management, but to be this open and unashamed about it is crazy.

Wayne Gretzky missed a total of 14 regular season games in his last 6 years. He said he knew fans were paying to see him and he had an obligation to play and sell the sport. He said the NHL was expanding in his last few years too so HE was the attraction to these new NHL cities when his team played them.

Joel could have said, 'I'm dealing with an injury, but I'll give my best effort to play for the team, the organization, and the fans of Philadelphia.' By stating that he won’t play back-to-back games, it may give the impression that he's holding back, when players are generally expected to give their all if they're physically able to play.

The NBA players used to come from really bad areas and would make the league in order to get out. Now most players come from the middle class and play within AAU for 10+ years. Completely different mentality.

Dan, and other issue is all Professional Teams and Top 20/30 College Teams charge more for tickets for Top 5 Top 10 teams coming in too play, for years, example The Baseball Team the Then Anaheim Angels, charged almost double for tickets when the Yankee’s and Red Sox’s came into town at the beginning of the year, so if you bought advanced tickets, good luck with that, in Basketball it’s worse, the fans always take in the butt.

I have been saying this for a few years now but the NBA has a regular season problem. They are in a catch 22: if they shorten the season to keep players from load management, they lose revenue. If they stick with the 82 game schedule to maximize revenue, players like Embiid will find a way to load manage. They have to figure this out or you lose fans until the spring when the playoffs start. I’m a lifelong Sixers fan and i also watch every regular season game. They are starting to lose people like me because i know these players don’t care until atleast after the All-Star break. I’m still shocked that people pay $$$ for season tickets. I understand corporations have the cash to do it but it’s a waste of $$$ for the average Joe.
@vader121742 минут бұрын
The problem is they play too many games. And you play the meaningless mid season tournament. You want less players injured and playing more then cut down on the number of games played in the season
@keving73478 минут бұрын
Outside of Sixers fans, Embiid is widely disliked. Other fanbases bemoan his style of play. Raptors fans cheered when Siakam elbowed him in the face, resulting in a broken orbital bone. Why would these same fans care if he sits out to preserve his health?

Joel Embiid is a mercenary player. He could be playing next Olympics for USA or France or Cameroon, who cares? Some "top" NBA players are just fooling everybody (Kawhi? Harden?) . Eurobasket players (Giannis, Luka, Jokic) have a different take about the game.

The NBA has become pretty trashy. Lock the players out. Throw away a season. Reduce salaries and season length. Season should be 50 games. Play less than 80% of games and players are paid per game, at a reduced rate compared to their written salaries.

I don't feel bad for fans at all, You are paying to watch your team win and if you are not then you are not a fan to begin with and nobody should worry about you. If I was buying a Red Sox ticket in the late 80s or 90s my fav player was Rodger Clemens, I knew there was a good chance i would not see him play, I just wanted my team to win and loved going no matter who was pitching. If you can't enjoy 2 NBA teams playing live at the stadium because only 1 player is not playing then just not go anymore because in all reallity basketball isnt your sport.
@Riles31522 сағат бұрын
Man stop it! The majority if not most of those fans that spend there hard earned money buying tickets are there to see the BEST PLAYERS perform. If Steph, LeBron, KD, Wemby is only coming to my city one time a year, and that one time that they’re scheduled, they decide to load manage or sit out because of some alleged injury, that’s a disservice and a disrespect to the fans and more over, THE PAYING CUSTOMER. If we’re paying top dollar, we deserve top talent giving us top entertainment. This isn’t about season-ticket holders or local hometown fans that have 40 games to choose from to go watch their hometown team. This is for the fan who can only afford to have one opportunity to watch some so-called superstar when his team comes to their city, and and instead can only watch Patrick Beverley, PJ Tucker, or Rui Hachimura instead 😒

Remember LeBron sat out a national televised Lakers @ Celtics game to try to embarrass the coach? This is a joke. LeBiogenesis has ruined the NBA. Taken competition out of the NBA - now has officially made it WWE - steroids and all. Playing half the games - now his bum son is pretending to be a player? This would be cool if it was real - but it’s fake. The NBA is a total joke. Kobe and MJ took it seriously. LeBozo has made a total mockery of the NBA. This is a joke. I grew up watching MJ, Allen Iverson, Kobe - they played basketball with a football mentality. At least in WWE the wrestlers compete to entertain the fans. This is for the ego of LeBozo. Gilbert Areas said “don’t judge Bronny by his basketball game, he’s an influencer” so you are admitting your sport is fake now - the entire NBA are influencers now, who can sometimes be bothered to play basketball. This was the night the NBA officially stopped pretending to be a real sports league. LeBron ruined the NBA - this entitled attitude has totally filtered down. The NBA has lost tons of it’s audience as you guys know - it’s only gonna get worse - people are fed up.
