Dumb take. If a player is healthy enough to play in a game they are healthy enough to play a back to back. There is literally no actual argument here scientifically or medically. Either the player has an injury that if it needs rest they don’t play in either game or they can play both. It’s really simple.

This is the dumbest take i ever seen.

@@jagr06 then what’s the actual medical reason that embiid could play one game of a back to back but not the other?
@jagr067 сағат бұрын
@@mgschwartz Health, the amount of stress on your knees and your body playing NBA games is tough especially if you have repeatedly had injuries consecutive seasons like he has. This isn't an uncommon thing, alot of sports have injured players players who have restricted minutes play 1 game of a double header or back to back. Both not allowing time to heal and rest are Danger zones for further injuries. You also have to take into account Embiid is echoing what he's been told by his medical staff and coaches. It's not that he's just lazy he's just medically taking care of himself, including weight management super serious this year than ever before. If people want to investigate anyone, Investigate Ben Simmons, dude should be retired like Kawhi
@straycatttt27663 сағат бұрын
I’ve been a Sixers fan since the 1970’s. Embiid is an albatross taking the Sixers down with him. He should start every game, then sit for as long as feels necessary. MLB managers typically load manage starting catchers by starting the backup catchers on Sunday or second game of a doubleheader.
@mgschwartz3 сағат бұрын
@@jagr06 then if it’s stress/usage related embiid should ALWAYS be playing the first game of a potential b2b and always sit the 2nd one as if there is actual swelling/inflammation/pain it will only be if he played a game the day before. There is no feasible argument to be made if embiid is playing the 2nd game of a b2b and misses the first as then there is no event causing the stress on the body.

The Sixers know what they're doing? Say what? As a longtime Sixers fan, I am here to tell everyone, they most certainly do not know what they're doing. In fact, they haven't had anyone who knew what they were doing since Larry Brown back in the aughts. Basically, the Sixers and Cowboys are having a battle to see who can make the worst decisions. Watching the Sixers is an exercise in futility because you know if there's a wrong decision to be made, they are sure to make it. Embiid can sit out the whole season, and he still will not be healthy for the playoffs because he is a guy who simply does not have the body to remain healthy. He couldn't stay healthy, even with load management, in his twenties. Anyone who believes he will all the sudden remain healthy in his thirties, is living in an alternate reality. The Sixers only hope is that the current owners sell the team, and the new owner begins trading people to facilitate the next inevitable rebuild. That really is their only option now, so the whole, will Embiid stay healthy conversation, is completely moot. You can literally just play recordings from 5-6 years ago, and everything said would be exactly the same. It's the NBA version of Groundhog Day.
@jagr066 сағат бұрын
I can't disagree with this more, for the first time they do know what they're doing with embiid and that may be too little too late but it's still something.
@Hemingway-dq4fx2 сағат бұрын
@@jagr06 Have you just started watching this team? You act as though they've never load managed him before? They load managed him for literally the first three years of his playing career. The man didn't play a single game in his first two seasons. He's only ever played 60 plus games once. Yet, he's still always hurt for the playoffs. Do you think playing less last year would've kept him from hurting his knee? What is wrong with the fans of this team? How much more evidence do you need that they have no clue as to what they're doing? They've spent the last five years bringing in one superstar after another to pair with the guy, and the only one who was actually a winner was Jimmy Butler. Now their new "brilliant plan" is to bring in Paul George, who has also rarely been able to stay healthy for the playoffs. But, yeah, they've really figured it out these guys. "Maybe a little too late?" Lord, it was too late the minute they drafted Markel Fultz for crying out loud.

Joel gets injured for the same reason Zion Williamson gets hurt. They aren't in shape. For a professional athlete his body is his livelihood. There is no excuse for not keeping it in perfect runnining condition. For a guy this size, every extra pound puts unneeded stress on your joints. Diet and exercise are so important to the longevity of athletes, especially basketball players whose joints already take a pounding from all the jumping, starting and stopping. Teams need to factor in lifestyle before signing some of these guys to these monster contracts. If a prospect spends his off days wolfing down Popeyes' five pieces, look elsewhere.
