I skated with Dan all through HS.. when he first came from Philly in Sophomore year, all he could really do was a kick-flip.. he excelled quickly and ended up being on the cutting edge at the time.. he was a funny, goofy dude always making super technical tricks look super easy..

Love Dan's style and tricks so much. I watched this part hundreds of times and it still holds up today(30+years later), not easy to do. Even his bails/falling looks effortless.
@johnnyandluther10 жыл бұрын
Dan invented half the tricks in his part and did every one like he was just hopping up a curb. Furious that this was his only big part.

Dude is a legend for sure. He is similar to Jay Adams! He didnt care for the money & corporate side of skating. ~On hand hand good for him! ~On other hand= he was on a Koston level a full 6 years b4 Koston.

Damn! Haven't seen this part in a long time. You're right, he was doing stuff way back and really clean. He vanished because he was from the future and filmed this part and then went back. Great part!

What simplicity, if anything it's insane complexity made to look simple. 30 years later I'm still wondering how to go from a nollie tailslide to a boardslide.

Loved Dan, had both his 'Peanuts' graphic boards on H-Street. The 1st one, the yellow Charlie Brown deck, was a classic.

there it is at 3:30 the invention of the noseslide to crookie grind!
@CT-nb5lm Жыл бұрын
No way, i missed that... \Nose slide to Crooks. And it looks sooo easy. Well it's not. Then again alot has to do with the double sided curb your nose sliding on. ~I think there's atleast 15 imventions in this part alone. And i heard it doesn't scratch the surface. ~~I wonder if the Plan-B aka The Great H-street betrayal by Mike Ternasky played a role in Dans pro plans. What happened to Dan Paterka is one of skatings most asked questions.

Time Travel with me to 1990 into ur fav skateshop and lookl at the wall of decks & think how dope it would be to pick 10 to bring back. That CharlieBrown Peanuts deck of his is coming home!

If I had just ten boards to bring back…….and some shoes too. I’m surprised nobody has done any Dan reissues. I think the guys who know of Peterka would definitely be interested in that Charlie Brown deck

Yes! This part shines. Just the 1st 30 seconds alone have alot of jaw dropping stuff thats needs slow mo replay. I love any "pop Shuv" or whip-it shuv-it into 5.0 grinds. They look & feel rad and are difficult to pull off smooth. esp with any type of speed.

did it all evolve from nose bonks in the late 80's??? , late 80's wade speyer, crooks hubba , the photo on thrasher says yes ,but not really as hes kinda nose bonking it but catching the lip (it counted) , koston and peterka were on top of the blocks, ledges holding it in crook on buttery wax, not the same as bonking it with the quickness as a lot of 80's skaters were (myself included) , I don't know who can claim the trick but both those guys owned it proper ,wade is just a legend for being wade

Switch ruined skaters like The Great WadeSPeyer. Makes me wonder if Dan Paterka didn't skate switch and mighta been why he bailed. It happened to The Gav + Jason Lee.
