Glad I found this video. I was specifically looking to see how the sole and heel of Dan Post boots get repaired. Personally I was fine with the multi-piece sole. The boots were comfortable and I didn't like the idea of an all leather bottom being scraped up by concrete. Plus, didn't want to slip when it was wet out. Seeing this let's me know I can absolutely keep my favorite pair a lot longer, where the issue I started having was the leather welts starting to separate.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video, the separation is from the threads holding the sole to the welt broke and it’s not holding the sole anymore. That’s a good sign you need a resole

These repairs start off at $185 for full soles and heels with a double stitch and clean and conditioning

I really like what you did to this pair of Dan Post, I have the exact pair and have had them re-done once and it was a very poor job. Sorry for all the questions. I was extremely impressed with the video of these Dan Post and want mine done.

@@bigbr4 no worries I encourage the questions. I like to make sure my customers know exactly what I’m doing and why. Yes it’s just me doing the resoles. I have one very experienced employee that sometimes helps me with the cleaning and finishing touches, but we both are very picky and make sure every job gets done to the best of our ability

Yes, it is a family business, when I met my now wife in high school, her dad owned and ran the shop. He offered me a job to help out and I fell in love. Both the trade and his daughter 😆. Now my wife and I own the shop

This was about a $185 Job for new Rubber Vibram soles and heels plus the double stitch and a clean and conditioning

I was saying to myself that there were a lot of nails in that sole, and then one of them jumped up and bit you ! Love your work and look forward to your videos. Please take care. I know wearing gloves as a Cobbler is not the norm, but maybe you could start a trend? a good par of gloves would have prevented your previous injury as well. God bless and cheers from Guam USA👍

God knows how many different gloves I’ve tried to wear 😂. The thicker ones make it harder to work and the thinner rubber ones rip easy and I go through like 10 a day. I do wear rubber gloves when messing with dyes, but other than that it’s easier to work without them unfortunately. This doesn’t happen a lot, we tend to learn what do do and what not to do. Cowboy boots don’t need a midsole. You can add a midsole. Since the boots originally didn’t come with midsole, I didn’t put on one.
