Part 8: • Dan Severn on New Jack...
Part 6: • Dan Severn on Refusing...
Part 1: • Dan Severn & Don Frye:...
--------
In the latest clip, Don Frye and Dan Severn described their matches against Ken Shamrock. Frye admitted to taking vicodin before his match and described how the drug affected his performance. Severn stated that he didn't want to be compared to Shamrock and spoke about their different upbringings. Severn also listed the numerous injuries he's sustained throughout his MMA career.
Severn commented on his UFC and NWA Hall of Fame inductions and revealed that he's had between 3,500 - 5,500 total combat matches. He is also one of only three MMA fighters with 100 wins. Later in the clip, Severn explained why Mark Coleman, Ken Shamrock, and Royce Gracie are the only fighters he'll come out of retirement for.

@The Dank Digger I'm just saying that he would've been too much for Royce. Mostly because alot of Royce's success in the early days was people's lack of understanding of Jiu Jitsu and submission, but the Luta Livre guys have been fighting the Jiu Jitsu guys for many decades in Brazil in the early days of Vale Tudo. I think his size, strength, and familiarity with fighting Jiu Jitsu specialists would've given him enough of an edge to beat Royce. I do agree that Rickson would've been a different story. The way Rickson tells it, Ruas was afraid to fight him, but who knows. The Gracies have been known embelish the stories about themselves.

Probably saves him from tapping to that first heel hook, never mind the 2nd one. Such a shame Dan still chats so much nonsense about Ken, he got absolutely destroyed the first time and he basically didn't wanna engage the 2nd fight.

Imagine the wrong bar at the wrong time...these two in a corner, sippy cup and all...you get the belly to back suplex , a few times in a row, then Don punches you for 15 mins straight? Dudes would sleep on these two, then sleep because of em...LEGENDS

I'm not a huge UFC watcher and I didn't know much about these guys until recently. But the more I learn about what they have achieved and endured, the more I'm convinced that they were totally taken advantage of in their careers. They should have been compensated A LOT MORE .

There wasn't anything to compensate them with then. Took a long time and alot of guys like these two that paved the way, then the money came. The big promotions should be taking care of them NOW

@jamesordwayultralightpilot

I get it but I also say fuck changing an accent to pronounce a name the way they want us to. I've had Spanish people and Europeans butcher my name and I've never corrected them because they mispronounced it. The important part was they remembered my name. That respect should go both ways. I feel the same about words. We should be allowed to pronounce words in other languages with an American accent and not get scrutinized for it. In all fairness ya know what I mean?

The upcoming and its current fighters should setup some kind of royalties program For these old fighters that weren't paid like they are today. Take half of a percent and cut these guys a check every month. Without them the ufc would be nothing today. I'm sure they're doing ok but they should be doing good after all that fighting over the years. These two are really class A men. They definitely don't make em like that anymore. Good video as usual Vlad. This channel and Joe Rogan are by far the best two on KZbin and almost anywhere else for that matter. You both have such a broad spectrum and the guest selection is phenomenal.
