@simonpreston16939 жыл бұрын
Of course the hazards are real, but that doesn't mean it should be taken seriously. If it was a true sport (an unknown final result), then I would. Even under contract, to the WWE, or any other organisation, performers need to know where to draw the line (storylines etc). If it's outside your comfort zone, then don't do it. Some performers, Mick Foley for example, don't seem to have in-ring limits, but even he would probably have refused to get involved with some of the angles.

He didn't need to talk and he didn't need to wrestle that often. His legitimacy was evident.

I love how he had to remind the road agent he was probably one of the flunkies that it doesn’t matter how you want to book Dan Severn, the fact of the matter is if Dan Severn wanted to he could go in that ring and beat the ever living hell out of the undertaker or Steve Austin and it just doesn’t matter what you booked.

I always felt the argument that he was too no frills with his gimmick and not flashy enough was crap from guys like Vince Russo, because Goldberg didn't have a gimmick either. Nor did Brock Lesnar. And neither of those guys were great orators. Still, I always felt that Dan Severn was hard to book because you needed a 10 minute match, and Severn's style was 5 minutes interesting at most to your average fan. His real fighting style of straight wrestling was amazing in the real fighting ring, but didn't translate well to any kind of a WWE main event, where you would have needed him to go 15 or 20 minutes. He needed to to take a few of his moves and flash them up a little. He should have also been kept a heel and consistently put in with smaller faces. Basically it could have been like Mountain vs Viper or something, where the faces dance around and stay away from Dan, getting shots in with the buildup being to Dan finally catching them. You could have doubled his entertainment value on that alone.
