Oh Josh, thank you so much for being *the* one I had the privilege of listening with.

I agree about understanding the words for the first time when Dan sings, which is ironic given that he’s not even a native speaker of English. So many singers seem to be lazy about the words. Great reaction. I love the harmonies in this song.
@beamitchum66209 ай бұрын
Dan has said that he enjoyed doing this cover but it was also one of his more difficult covers because of the harmonies. As usual, Josh, you have given an excellent reaction. Thank you.

Thanks Josh for sharing your reaction to this wonderful cover from Dan. I just love the layering of his vocal harmonies, so beautiful on the ears. 🎶🌟🎶

I never knew all of the words before, his enunciation was perfect! He did an awesome job with this! I always loved this song! Yes, you should let your hair down and so should Dan!❤❤ Great reaction Josh!👍👍

Yup, let that hair down. Thanks for allowing the songs to play thru and then commenting. Great reactions, always.

I always loved the harmonies in this song but, like you, never actually heard the words before Dan articulated them. His voice is so beautiful that a Dan chorus is heavenly. Nice review, Josh. Nice hair, too!😊

The harmonies are just outa this world!❤❤ He does the Toto songs, Journey, Aerosmith and Boston so well!! Love that you enjoy him Josh. Thank you😃

Your reactions to Dan are some of my favs too. You just have such an easy and articulate manner in expressing what you appreciate about Dan’s songs which of course are often shared by his fans. Very appealing. Gotta say that the initial “freeing of the locks” added an unexpected dimension to that appeal here. 😉 Thank you for this great reaction!

Can't hit the subscribe button, 'cause that would disconnect me! It would take more than 100 men to drag me away. (grin) Thank you VERY much for this really lovely reaction. When I started going through ALL of Dan's videos and I saw this one, I had never heard it before, and I thought, "Hmmm...maybe I'll skip this one. I mean, really...AFRICA?!" I have since repented, and I go listen to it often, and absolutely love the whole thing, and what it stands for. Dan does SUCH a great job with it, to be sure. Thank you again, for your wonderful reaction. 😀

I've listened to Dan's songs many times, but when I hear them here on your channel, it's especially nice because you appreciate his singing, and that doubly cheers me up.

Me, too! 😀 Between Josh and Carlos (Viking) (who both LOOK a lot like Dan, as well as both loving his work), I could be supremely happy just watching the two of them alternately. \0/

Lol! As you let your hair down i was thinking, yes thats much better! 😅 if ya got it, flaunt it! O love Dan cover of this ... its very beautiful and uplifting. Another of his older covers that he expresses pure joy in, Boston's More Than A Feeling. 😊

I've really enjoyed every single reaction of yours I've seen. You are fantastic! This is one of my favorites of Dan's as well. He was so young when he did this and it's fun to compare the Dan from then to the Dan from now. He's just continued to grow since the beginning. BTW, your hair is spectacular! Keep it down.😁

Dan was asked once which was the hardest cover he ever did and he said it was Africa. But that was a couple or more years ago and he has done many more songs were he did multiple parts. To name a few: I See Fire from the Hobbit movies; Hallelujah, and Bohemian Rhapsody. All have him singing with himself and all are mesmerizing.

Thanks for your reaction, it was the same for me, that for the first time, I understood the lyrics and they are great. That is one more thing I like about Dan. And I love that Dan, although doing Dan things as always 😄, stayed very close to the original, which always was and is a really great and joyful song!!

G'day Josh, Like many others I too have fond memories of the 80s and music is a catalyst for some of those memories. This was my party era, my "getting to know me" era. I turned 18 in 1980 and so I gained my freedom from the shackles of childhood... I've heard this song a gazillion times over the years and yet was still unclear on some of lyrics. "Rising like Olympus in the Serangetti" I always thought was "Rising like an Empress in the savage heat",,, it's amazing how clearly Dan enunciates, that even someone who has spoken only english my entire life can learn the correct lyrics. It never occurred to me to look up the actual lyrics of the song because I thought I knew them...oh well, you know what thought did 🥴 I love the whole "pull out the chopstick and release the flowing tresses",,, I used to do the same thing with a couple of pencils or pens or whatever I had at hand...😁 🙃🐨🇦🇺
