Isn’t this phenomenal? When he put this out in 2016, he commented “this is the most ambitious video I’ve done so far. 24 synchronized performances, 6 for each melody….” I agree with your comment--it doesn’t come easy, it takes work. Dan certainly has put the work in. Thanks for your reaction.

There are many a female soprano that has difficulty hitting those high notes in this piece. For a man to do it, just incredible.

absolutely. When I sang (amateur) never, never could I hit those notes.

We see 24 images but I read he uses more than 250 recordings. An insanity, as Dan says himself. Lovely reaction.

@@annezzell6792I can't recall when Dan said that but he did, in fact it was a bit more, if I have it right. Can you imagine trying to line all that up perfectly😳

@@annezzell6792 I just finished writing out my comment, in which I had mentioned that (about the insanity part), as well. Here's what I wrote: "A couple of months ago, Dan used the Chorus as his daily reel post, on Facebook, and introduced it as his, "journey into insanity!" I think it was in either July or August. I'm going to try to find it right now, and will be right back...it was actually in mid-May, I think. He originally shared the reel in March of 2022, but on Instagram, it now says that it was shared there (and on Facebook) 19 weeks ago (today is October 1, 2023...so mid May is probably about right) The part about how many recording times it took, he said somewhere else. I think it was on one of the interviews he did with a young woman, and I can't remember her name, but I know she got married sometime over this past year, in New York, I think (evidently Donald Trump also attended the wedding, from a different video I saw, after her interview with Dan). Anyway...yes...he did mention doing a LOT more than just 24 recordings. Given the fact that he has also mentioned that in order to produce any of his videos, he generally makes about five recordings of each part that he sings, then he decides which is the one (of each of those parts) that he likes the best, then he begins putting them all together into the finished project. Most of the time he does all of the tech stuff, as well as the recording itself. Fascinating!

@@GrandmasGotGraceLW back in 2017, when he recorded a couple of ASKDANVASC videos, he mentioned in one of those that he used to do just a single take, but at the time (2017) he was doing three takes of each song, picking the audio that he liked the best, and then using that single audio track and pulling in video clips from the other two recordings. I know this because I just re-watched those videos when that "Honest Composer" reactor accused him of modifying pitch. That was six years ago, so it's quite possible that he has changed his approach since then, and I certainly can see in some of his newer videos that it looks like more than three video takes. That being said, even if he took FIVE takes of each of his 24 shots in the Hallelujah Chorus video back in 2016 (BEFORE he said he was doing 3 takes), that would only be 120. Less than half of 250.

When I saw this reaction pop up, I was like, "Oh, GOOD! I can hardly wait!" I just love this wonderful project. I just have to watch it at least once a week, now that I'm aware of it (since April of 2023, when Dan produced his Amazing Grace video). A couple of months ago, Dan used the Chorus as his daily reel post, on Facebook, and introduced it as his, "journey into insanity!" All of us who usually comment, made sure to let him know that we REALLY appreciate those moments of insanity, because the video is so tremendous! My family is very musical, and as I was growing up, I was in community choirs with my mom, and later with my younger siblings (Dad sang, too, but he didn't "do" choirs). We ALWAYS did the Hallelujah Chorus for Christmas, as a joint school and church choirs venture. We lived in Old Valdez, Alaska, with a population of less than 1000, most of the time. There were five churches, two schools (elementary and high), and everybody knew everybody else, of course. I was a high soprano, but could also sing the lowest bass in this song, so a lot of the time, I would be helping new choir members learn the different parts--including those two, and everything in between. So I totally KNOW how hard it can be, even for some really experienced sopranos, to carry those high notes successfully and accurately. I LOVE that Dan does it, and does it so beautifully! I had about 15 years where rheumatoid arthritis tried to steal ALL of my singing range from me (but it couldn't successfully kill my bass range, so I've loved being able to sing along with Geoff Castellucci, and Tim Foust, for quite some time. Since having had both of my hips replaced so that I now can both sit and stand almost totally upright once again, my vocal range is ALMOST back to what it was before. I can still do the bass parts, and I've been singing along with this one, working on the lower soprano part, which is almost intact again, and I'm tentatively reaching into the high soprano part. It's fun, because I already know all the parts by heart. It was even more fun watching YOU know all the parts, too, and comment about Dan doing all of it, as well, and how much time and effort it would take to do a project like this. Thank you VERY much for really MAKING my late night music indulgence (I'm a huge night owl) such a pleasure this night. Blessings upon you! 😀

how wonderful to hear more about you GGG. I sang this too as an alto but did not have any of the range you speak of or that Dan has achieved. It adds a layer of appreciation when you know what it is to sing even one of the parts of this. Glad you are able to sing again.

Can't have been easy for Dan to put these 24 of him together that they sound this way - not to mention the singing of all of them/him and the instruments. A lot of work. I like that you enjoy it. Thanks and greetings to you and Ghana. 🕊️

Yes this takes work. I sang this when I was in high school; the alto part. Not all the parts 24 times! 24 Dan Vasc; almost enough! Lol. I love how he made sure you realized this wasn't a copy and paste situation, adjusting his hair, looking at his watch, etc. How does he do this in such unison? and how long did it take?
