@skipx6072 i do not think converting a conventional barrel to a bull barrel is something that would be very easy. That would require extensive slide work . Bull barrels do not use barrel bushings. That would be some type of custom shop job like WC, Ed Brown etc.

What brand 1911 would you recommend getting? I'm in Cali so we don't have a large selection unfortunately. We have Dan Wesson, Kimber, Springfield, Sig and Rock Island? Which would you say is worth saving up for?

I own a DW 38/357 and a 44 mag HB both are beyond excellent. both before CZ... I have never owned a Wilson combat but I have used Wilson Combat parts in a lot of guns. For semi auitos I love 1911's. mostly tho full size government with government hammers and no odd beavertail. It is very difficult these days to get a quality government model but very happy with my real Colt... on my Kimber I cut down the extended beavertail (who thought that stuff up anyway?) so that I can cock the gun. I carry loaded chamber with hammer down and cock on the draw.. yeah.. I know but I have a lot of handguns and that is how I do it with all of em. I have really been interested in the Cz 1911 for a while. so this was timely.

Sorry brother i still cant say a DW is MUCH better than a kimber or springfield...on the DW your paying extra IMO for no mim parts and better quality control but at the end of the day they are still cnc machined.. thers no hand fitting like on a wilson or an ed brown les baer or nighthawk. Plus the attention to detail you get from a custom...thers a reason a wilson cost more than double a DW and its worth it if you like all that...as far as functionality. They are all functional

I own multiples of all that you mentioned except Wilson. I'm guessing you don't because if you looked these guns over you'd find substantial differences between DW and Springfield or Kimber. I do't know how you could miss it. Look at how everything is fit. Feel the safety and the way the slide operates.

@@sparky_-mf2cs I'm not communicating effectively. It does't matter what machining process was used. My DWs are SUBSTANTIALLY better fitted than my Springfields and Kimbers although the older Kimbers are better than the newest. The difference was SUBSTANTIAL enough for me to spend the money on a VBOB and a 5" Valor. Many of the exact things Mr. Benton pointed out are even more obvious on those that I own. YMMV.
