What I like about Semisonic is there's no flash, just the music and 3 guys that absolutely love what they do. And that comes across on stage live. This is the only band that when I put an album on, I never skip a song.

I can't believe how long it's been since these songs first came out in the 90's. Kids have been born and grown up and having their own kids since I first heard Secret Smile. And yet is still sounds so recent like it came out last week.

Man, Semisonic was one of my favorite bands in high school, and Feeling Strangely Fine is still one of my favorite albums to come out of the 90s.

Same. It really holds up--I just started listening to it again after all these years. The first half of the album in particular is outstanding.

Dan is one of the most cerebral musicians out there! At our 25th college reunion, he explained how he hid the Closing Time meaning sneakily, in order to avoid boring his bandmates and the world with gushing over the arrival of "junior" (in this particular case, his beautiful daughter Coco). Once you understand the inspiration for Closing Time, the lyrics make total sense.

Dan sang about wondering when lightning would strike again. The first time I heard “You’re Not Alone” I felt like lightning struck me. I wonder why that song never became the massive, anthemic hit that it should have. Is it because radio stations only play classic rock and degenerate-pop?
