Usually how it works. Your best qualities/skills also tend to be your biggest blind spots. I tend to attribute that to believing that quality in that quality makes someone believe they don't require self-defense mechanisms in place to close the blind spot. The danger only increases when someone trains that quality/skills up over time. Leads to a lot of "God I should have seen that coming..." events. Impressions are kind of the talking equivalent of nut shots. We always say "It's always funny until some kicks you in the nuts" and impressions create the same effect verbally.

This is ironic, because BILL is sitting there as a caricature of himself, sitting in these chairs thinking he's the coolest kid in school, smoking joints the size of cigars are being drunk off his ass. a 62 year old man acting like a teenager who thinks he's cool... deluded into thinking he's still at the top of his game. Dana Carvey is 5 years OLDER than Bill... but here, easily comes off as 10 years younger. He has so much more vitality and positive energy.

Carvey's only two years older, but your point still holds. Carvey definitely comes across younger than his age and happier than most comics. I think he had some health issues earlier in life and often that recalibrates one's attitude to life (so I'm told).

@@onamattapeeya I agree with you that there is alot to jokes you can do on Trump, but that’s not my point. They don’t go after the other side, that’s where they lost me as partisan humor, is lame humor. If they hit Biden every night in the monologue and went after Pelosi and VP Harris just as they go after Trump and McConnell, that’s cool with me. My beef is they are being partisans for the Democrat party and aren’t even hiding it anymore. Jimmy Kimmel said the ABC executives asked him to tone down his Trump jokes because he’s essentially lost ratings because 1/2 the country tuned out. He said no, he was all-in on Trump humor. Why the hell should I even bother watching Kimmel? Colbert? Myers? It would be no different if Dennis Miller had a late night show during Obama years and shit on him every night and never touched the Republicans in his monologue. Boring! I honestly don’t get it that these guys are willing to lose viewers simply because they hate Trump? Sorry that’s not comedy. They are just a funnier version of Sean Hannity or Rachel Maddow every night playing to the partisan sheep.
@onamattapeeya
@onamattapeeya Жыл бұрын
@@chrisolivo6591 I've seen plenty of jokes on talk shows about Joe Biden, the reason it's not proportionate is because there's way more to make fun of trump for, I've seen jokes about Pelosi and her "poo poo" statement, another example is Mitch McConnell he is very fertile ground for jokes because of his resemblance to a particular type of reptile, so the jokes cannot be distributed equally because of these obvious reasons, as for Kamala Harris there was a good sketch where Maya Rudolph played her on Saturday night live, and honestly there's not much about her to joke about because she's kept relatively silent, so if you were going to make jokes about these Democrats what would they be? And I mean funny jokes not cheap political insults so jokes about the president stuttering or the vice president wearing knee pads is not acceptable, and what jokes would you have about Republican politicians since your concern is making jokes about everyone equally

Dana was the hottest thing on late night TV during Carson's last years. Who cares if you get banned one visit a year on NBC 1130pm Mon-Fri when you're basically the star of NBC's Saturday 1130pm show every week. Johnny's clout had slipped at the start of the 90s, especially when Arsenio took the 18-35 demographic, which Dana was a part of.
