Have we seen anyone kill their hype (without losing) more than Khamzat? After he had the amazing first super active run then he got covid causing a long lay off, came back and beat Li Jingliang in dominant fashion hype restored... but then barely edges out Gilbert, hype train slowed down. Then missed weight, fought Holland whose nowhere near title contention, took forever to come back again and then barely beats an Usman who had 10 days notice, and is now demanding a title shot. He could still become champ, but damn is he reaching a place of inactivity, obscurity and entitlement.

I agree with a lot of what you said, though tbf to Chimaev a little here I do think a lot of this stems from these insanely unrealistic expectations that Chimaev is the only guy on the roster somehow not allowed to have wars or close competitive fights even with guys like usman or burns, two incredibly top tier guys. Lastly I don’t think Chimaev beating usman coming up on 10 days should warrant a title shot, but at the same time it was Dana who made that promise and I just feel like it’s dumb of him and everyone else to sort of put these guys in these lose lose positions like this. If Chimaev wouldn’t have gotten promised the title shot, and he’d have said no I won’t fight usman coming up on 10 days notice because if I beat him in any fashion that isn’t dominant I not only won’t get the title shot but it will somehow be seen as a negative for me people would have felt like Chimaev ruined the card by refusing to take the fight. But when Dana makes these promises to fighters to save these cards while putting them in this lose lose situation and then renegs after like all he’s doing is making guys who get these promises in the future not want to do it and it’s hard to blame them tbh.

I think alot of people would respect him more if he would be more humble on twitter/instagram and portrait himself like he accomplished alot in the UFC but fights once or twice a year. Imo he should've just fought anybody no matter who, even if its only a top 10 guy he should've lead way more with action, isntead of twitter/instagram rants and callouts.

@@kgizzla idk, I think there are plenty of super cocky guys with little humility who have close fights but don’t take anywhere near the same flak. I think it’s because he built up these weird expectations by looking like an absolute world beater fighting prospects or contenders with no grappling. Bo nickal is a prime example, he is similarly cocky and seems entitled too but he looks like a world beater crushing cans and he’s not even getting touched, and I do think with his pedigree like for sure he will be a legit top contender, not just a hype train but there’s gonna come a point just like with chimaev that bo isn’t across from some no name prospect and with a legit elite contender and he isn’t gonna run through him and I think even if he wins people will see it as him getting fraud checked but in reality it’s just what happens when the absolute best guys fight other guys who are the best.

I think that is the most likely scenario as well. And if there is an Israel injury they might just fast track the sean and dricus rematch. If there is a Dricus injury, I predict they make an interim title fight for Israel and Sean rematch. A Sean and Khamzat fight does make alot of sense, in that Khamzat can jump the line with a win over Sean for sure like Alex did. If Sean wins he re confirms his title shot while also shutting out someone who he doesn't believe deserves a title shot in the first place. The trash talk is already there and building so it's the title eliminator that seems the most likely.
