Vinh Vu of Gingko Audio was given early access to this video. He added some info I think you should know. I'll pin this comment for all to see: 1) Gingko Audio is the worldwide marketer of Danacable, not the parent company. 2) During the introductory pricing period Gingko will be offering free shipping worldwide. Customers also have a 30-day return window for which the customer only pays bank/PayPal fees and return shipping, but otherwise receives a full refund. 3) Vu recommends a headband pad to alleviate the top-of-head hotspot I spoke of in the review. I linked to his recommended model in the description. 4) Lazuli Vocalise for the Abyss 1266 is pronounced ([ voh-kuh-leez ], not [ voh-kuh-lahyz ]. Vocalise is a musical term for “song without words”, like Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise”

The only thing it can possibly do is change the FR or volume if its impedance is higher than the headphones resistance and only in very specific circumstances where the headphone has a nonlinear impedance AND has a very low impedance. You are paying $5000+ for conditional, uncontrollable EQ. Lmao indeed.

With that I have a Rel 10 in and SVS 12 in subwoofers, Triangle Bro 3 speakers, Iota VX integrated amp, Geshelli V2 socketed DAC, Wiim Ultra streamer, Monolith power conditioner and Focal Elegia closed back headphones. Of course, I didn't pay $4000 for all that gear. I guarantee that I can hear the difference between my expenditure and having no system whatsoever.

They've moved away from just the oil and are now using the whole snake 😝🤣 Gingko argues that it has to be that thick and heavy because that's the diameter that was a natural consequence of using the combinations of copper and silver strand bundles that got the sound they were looking for.

It's very much a misnomer that cables only effect tone. To the extent they do effect tone, the reason is not attenuative in nature as many cable skeptics expect it to be. It's because of frequency dependent time-domain behaviors delaying different frequencies by different amounts thus changing the shape of the waveform that comes out of the wire from what went in. These delays have a bigger impact on the shape of transients, which are essential in our ability to distinguish different timbres, than on steady state tones. Different conductive materials (eg copper vs silver) and different weaves (Litz, etc), have different impacts on these time domain behaviors. FR sweep tests will not catch the results of these time domain behaviors because 1) these time domain behaviors are only noticeable when multiple frequencies are present simultaneously and FR tests only play 1 frequency at a time and 2) FR sweep tests only check steady state behavior and ignore transients completely. Beyond tone, these subtle time delays also can reduce clarity, smear the accuracy of the spatial presentation, muddy attack and decay timings, and blunt dynamics. EQ can partially recover the tonal aspects of timbre, but the lost integrity of spatial effects, dynamics, attack and decay timing, and clarity are gone forever. No EQ is bringing those back. I hope this helps.
@enjoshi-godrez87752 күн бұрын
@wavetheorysound there is no "time domain" with headphones. Headphones are inherently a minimum phase system. All transitory effects are a part of the headphones FR and FR only. This isn't true for speakers and iems that have phase cancellations from using multiple drivers (which is bad).
@wavetheorysound2 күн бұрын
@@enjoshi-godrez8775 You appear to have confused the mechanical waves created by speaker/headphone drivers and the electromagnetic waves that tell those drivers how to move. The mechanical waves (sound waves) that emanate from a headphone driver (or full range speaker driver) are minimum phase because of the singular source of sound. Multiple driver arrays introduce wave interference because of the different distances between the drivers and the listeners' ears. But, speaker and headphone drivers alike move in response to an electromagnetic waveform that is the summation of often dozens-to-hundreds of individual tones superimposed on each other. The individual tones of these superimposed electromagnetic waves are ALWAYS time smeared relative to each other to some extent as the result of having traveled along a physical conductor. Material science has provided evidence that different materials and different strand weaves do this time smearing by amounts that vary with AC frequency AND vary with material and weave type. This phenomena has been well established for over a century. It's not a question of IF this varying time-domain behavior happens, it's a question of whether or not we can hear it. There is actually very little published literature on this audibility question in cables. I encourage you to go to scholar.google[dot]com and search "audio cables blind test" to get an idea of how truly little there is in the peer-reviewed literature specifically about cables.
@enjoshi-godrez87752 күн бұрын
@wavetheorysound no, you are very confused. There are two things that affect a headphones' response at the eardrum. It's acoustic impedance or HPTF and its FR. That's it. You can not have time alignment in a minimum phase device like headphones. Time alignment is a term exclusively used for speakers regarding the use of multiple drivers and using delaying the sound emanating from one or more drivers to correct the transient response.

What will be hilarious is them realising the only type of cable that will ever make a difference is the onewith the greatest impedance, which improves as the cable gauge increases, aka, the thinnest cables have the gteatest chance of inciting a change in respons. Most audiophile cables go in the opposite direction and are antithetical to their marketing for that reason. One strand OCC is the new meta.

@Leon-lg7zm It is fundamentally impossible for a cable to make a difference with an e-stat because the cable must be higher impedance than the resistive load of the headphone to induce a voltage change relative to its frequency. E-stats have impedance in the 100000s of ohms.
