Exo has 9 members but since 2016 Lay is promoting as a solo artist in China because he is Chinese and He is a very big star in China so he is not able to join the group because of the bad relationship between Korea and China And if you ever look MVs of Exo from 2015 or before there will be more members as Exo debuted with 12 member but 3 of the Chinese members left due to unfair treatment and filed a lawsuit against the company

They are currently promoting as 8 members because the Chinese Member (Lay) is busy doing his solo work in China. But there are 9 members! Can’t wait to see more EXO!!! Btw there is a story. In the MV it is a continuation of the story from other MVs. But in this one they are captured and beaten and one of the members disguises themselves as one of the bad guys and gets them out. Something like that...

For me, EXO's MV (and teaser) always on other level. Like I need to be extra smart to understand the story line. There are so much detail that I can't even catch them all. It's much easier to just watch the MV theory. And everytime I done watching the MV theory I always like "Wooahh. The MV story line is actually mind blowing". Monster was their darker comeback concept. So even their teasers back in 2016 you wont be able to see much of their bare faces. The story is the guy you called beautiful was an insider and he let the other guys free from what looks like a revolution against police brutality. On a deeper context the song is a selfish love. Its saying youre making me a monster. :)

There's also betrayals and spys from red force on the group. Some ppl think it's a clone of one member infiltrated and that the real one is captured... There's a bunch of different theories going on in the fandom! It's a lot, but it's super fun for those invested on the story! 😊 (sorry for the info dump haha)

ZHANG YIXING or Lay is busy to his solo in China and US and having a hard time to promote as EXO member but in Tempo Chinese Version he did participate! If you want to know them better . LOL The one that you stopped on was Chen. You stopped on him during your last video, too. The beautiful one you mentioned is Baekhyun. About the video: There are two things with every EXO video. One is a through-line that connects all of the videos. They're not shot in order, so the story isn't told linearly, but they do all connect. That's a really complicated thing that I can't go into right now. Two, the videos themselves tend to have a smaller, more contained storyline. For this one, the boys are all part of a "squad" (so to speak) and they're involved in some form of resistance. They're standing their ground and fight the fight, but they get overwhelmed and captured. This is when you see their pristine white table decorations get destroyed (I think it's Chanyeol that gets thrown through the glass?) Now they're in jail. Throughout all this time, Baekhyun is separate. My theory is that he's the member that infiltrated the enemy in order to assist the resistance, but he couldn't stop them from being captured. Instead, he works behind the scenes, using his influence to get the members moved from the prison. He then disguises himself as a guard and drives them out of the building. At the end, you see him stop the van, get out, open the back, and reveal himself to the boys. The last shot is of them all leaving together with their arms around each other. About the number of members: You are kind of watching the videos in reverse so it's going to seem like they add members every video LOL. EXO is made up of 9 members. 8 are Korean, and 1 Chinese member. The Chinese member is currently doing solo stuff (thanks to the political situation between China and Korea), but he remains a member. He hasn't been able to promote with the group since 2016/2017. Originally, the group had 12 members. Three of them (all Chinese) left for various reasons by the end of 2015. Any videos from 2017 on (with the exception of Tempo, that has a cameo of Lay in the Korean version, and a sung line in the Chinese version) will feature the 8 Korean members. We're all hoping that they can be together again soon, but with Xiumin and Suho close to enlistment, it'll probably be years before that happens. To understand Monster you have to watch Lucky One first (2015 mv) Their story doesnt start and end in one shot. In here (Monster) they have already escaped from captivity (they are captured on Lucky One and were given shots/antidote) Baekhyun (with lip "piercings") managed to escape and acting as a spy to save his brothers (they couldnt use their powers due to antidote injected to them in previous mv) Since they have already escaped, you can see them trying to live as normal people on Lotto MV. And the story continues until Love Shot. But it doesnt end there. The story will continue again in their next comeback.

One thing you must keep in mind when watching old EXO content is that EXO always aims to top their past stuff including MVs and live performances etc. So their new content will top the old. Monster was the Bop (and frankly still is) but after watching newer content from EXO it is normal for you to feel that some of their old MVs will feel that they may not top the new stuff. So it would be bets not to compare.

I understand u don't get the message of the song,its because their is more like a deep poem and message that u can get in first watch... Like example in love shot and tempo...
