Isn’t it lovely how they retconned Graves’ death because “he was a fan favorite” but they off Soap in a pathetic manner? Soap didn’t even die in a heroic manner. I get that not every death in war involves heroic actions and sometimes people die doing the most routine things but come on. The intro cutscene for mw2 season 5 revealed he survived. “I wasn’t in that tank.” The problem is, MW3 expects you to know this and casually drops that he’s alive near the beginning of the game, but then tries to reveal it again in this cutscene like it’s some kind of twist when the audience already knew for a few hours. Absolutely botched storytelling.

You can tell he wasn't if you go back and listen to the audio voicelines, throughout the campaign for every time somebody is in a vehicle you will be able to hear said vehicle & gunshots through the radio. Graves' smack talk at the end was clean and clear. He was long gone while you were fighting the tank.
