I just pulled the trigger on a Saphire nitro+ 7900 XTX while having a 3090, but I'm in a weird situation because of two things. I've switched to Linux 100% during this year, where even though the NVIDIA card was doing mostly all right for me, there are still some headaches with some technologies that I don't have any issue with running on my full AMD laptop. So it's mostly a convenience kinda choice, I want to be able to use my hardware while spending the least amount of time possible with reading and finding out solutions to make things work. Might sound contradicting from a person using Linux, but that's a different topic why I jumped ship from Windows. Other thing is that I'm leaving my home country for possibly a longer time, at least 4 months but if it goes well maybe even years, I know the used market here and I'm confident that I can sell my 3090 for a decent amount of money to make the expense of buying a new GPU a bit less painful. 😄 AMD's marketing about they're not going to make a high end product also not helping my case, I know I want to try out AMD on Linux, but why would I wait for their next gen if I can already buy a good GPU with decent amount of VRAM now.

ok but what you think about the eu literally having tariffs on everything not made in europe? Since euopre does not make graphics cards you have to pay 10-20% tax on graphics card. so much for "america needs better education" its like those french feminists taking their shirts of protesting the abortion laws in texas because thats what the media told them to complain about, but little did they know that in france the country they live in, the abortion laws are more strict than texas. No one needs better education, they need to stop listening to the lying media who have an agenda and abolish all taxes and regulations and make buying decisions based on what consumers on youtube say, we dont need the government or the paid shills in the media to tell us what to believe and how to live our lives. Just look what people who are doing well on a subject say and keep their thoughts in mind. Thats what we need not "better education" its like cnn doing a bit on how in new york schools they teach kids how to spot fake news...mfw? You are cnn, you are fake news. Atm for me Nvidia 4000 is cheaper overall than everything else. Not even mentioning the better feature set. I don’t know about energy cost in the US, but in my opinion this can be a big factor in cost. 🙂 greetings! keep it up man! 👍

Thanks for your numerous analysis and recommendations. I chose to get a 4080 super for a few reasons: 1-my current cpu is a 12700k and matches it well without bottleneck (which I will have on the new graphic cards likely and I want to use my current cpu to the best of it’s ability before upgrading). 2-my power supply is 750 just enough for a power savvy 4080, otherwise upgrade is needed. 3-I would rather wait for the best version of the 50 series that will likely come out a year later as NVIDIA often does. 4-they will not be cheaper than the current cards anyway 5-the functions they will offer will likely not add anything to my gaming experience until the super/ti versions come out 6-avoid scalpers and potential early issues 7-a good card can always be upgraded

I wouldn't wait for the 50 series unless you are planning to buy an RTX 5080 or 5090, or if you are willing to wait for the models which will use higher capacity (3GB) memory chips, and those ones are likely going to take longer before they become available. An RTX 5070 with 12GB of vram sounds like kind-of a bad product. An 18GB (or even a 15GB version) would likely be a lot better. Likewise, there should also be at least a couple of 16GB mid-range AMD cards releasing soon. 12GB should be good for a lower-end graphics card, but the next gen lower end graphics cards are going to take even longer before they're available, and I would guess that they won't release until later than the mid-range ones.

Smart choice and planning on the cards you've mentioned. I've been shopping for almost 2 months now and being decisive myself on getting anything. I currently don't have a GPU at all and it's the only thing missing from my new build in over 10 years now. so being very picky on the card but every single one you mentioned are the only ones that make sense minus that 4070 TI at the at this point I think that's a little bit on the diminishing side as you claimed, very smart shopper here and gives you the real deal. and some places make it harder to see what you need to see. but if you're shopping for future gen and want to get with 1440p a little bit smoother and you like me and always been Nvidia fan. you need to start looking at AMD honestly because I have, most benchmarking sites don't show you the whole purpose of why those AMD cards cost a little bit more for that little bit more of RAM and it's all in the 1440p. so anyone looking to upgrade be smart and either get a AMD card that Daniel's mentioned or just wait for next gen. definitely don't buy a 4060 or anything less than 8GB VRAM if you plan on using 1440p, thanks for your time Daniel. Not sure if it's totally relevant to the conversation but if you are capable of using a credit card responsibly getting a new card to utilize a sign on bonus is a nice way to get a little bit of money back on a large purchase like a GPU. I saved for a long time for a new high end build and have $1000 to spend on a GPU and found a credit card that has a $500 sign on bonus if you spend $1000 within a month of opening the card. I'm now essentially getting $500 off for the 4080 super I planned to buy anyway. Obviously this hinges on someone's ability to immediately pay off the purchase to not get absolutely robbed from interest payments though.

Looking at replacing my 3070 for MH Wilds next year, initial thought was to wait for the 5070 but the 12gb vram for what will very likely be $800 to get on launch is nothing short of unacceptable, there's games from years ago that get over 12gb maxing all settings and to expect the consumer in 2025 (which they will) to pay over $500 for 12 is insane. Unless bench testing of the initial offerings shakes the landscape up a 4070 ti super or even a 4080 super seems to make far more sense & tick all the boxes.

and what about 7900 XT? at USD 650 is a way better deal than Nvidia alternatives, unless you care about the RT crap of course...
@03chrisv21 сағат бұрын
A lot of people care about RT "crap". Basically, most new AAA games are launching with RT, and some games don't even have an option to turn it completely off (Silent Hill 2 Remake for example). RT is here to stay and more and more devs will include it, so RT performance will be more important as we move forward. At some point in the future, RT/Path tracing will be the default with no rasterization fallback option. I'm hyped for the upcoming Half Life 2 RTX game, good luck playing that on a 7900 XT. I'd be suprised if it managed to break 20fps at 1440p. Though something like a 4070 Super would easily triple that, nVidia is a whole generation ahead of AMD in path tracing performance.

If you absolutely have to have a brand new GPU, then the 5700XT is currently $180 on Amazon, and is still a competent chip. It performs about the same, or even a little bit better, than a RX6600. It also has a 256 bit memory bus vs the 6600's 128 bit. Although the 5700XT is much more power hungry and only has HDMI 2.0b, while the 6600 has HDMI 2.1
@monotheisticmortal512222 сағат бұрын
You aren't getting a brand new 5700 XT anywhere tbh, most being sold these days are survivors of the crypto mining craze. This was my previous card, and although it's more powerful than the 6600 in many cases, it does draw significantly more power than recent cards. It also lacks newer features such as variable rate shading, ray tracing and mesh shaders (which are starting to be used in newer titles such as AW2). These factors pushed me towards upgrading my GPU a lot earlier than I had intended on doing, resulting in a not-so-massive yet appreciable jump to a 6700 XT, which has been worth it for me. Though for most people, the 6650 XT is probably the ideal choice here. It closes the gap with the 5700 XT in most titles (where the 6600 is lacking), if not beating it. It also offers all the additional aforementioned features of DX12U that are lacking in the older card, whilst drawing much less power to achieve that level of performance and only requiring a single 8-pin as opposed to 8+6pin or even two 8 pin connectors on certain OC 5700 XT models.
@beirch21 сағат бұрын
@@monotheisticmortal5122 Like I said, Amazon are selling new 5700XTs for $180. Afaik Amazon does not sell used if not explicitly stated. I agree though, the 6650XT is the best option out of the three, seeing as you can get it for only $35 more than the 6600. If you're on a very strict budget though, the 5700XT is also a great card.

I don't really think that buying gpus right now it's a bad idea, there are some good deals and if you really need a gpu you should go for it. I'm pretty scared about how the prices will be, nvidia will not have any competition for the high end market and they can dictate the price, and this could influence amd too (and don't forget the scalper craze for the first few months as usual). Nobody is stopping nvidia to price the 5080 at 1500 euros and the 5070 at 899 euros with 12 gb vram (or wait even longer fot the super / ti version with more vram, but with a price that is high enough to push you to buy the next tier card). To me it feels like you'll need to spend 15% more for slightly better raster performance, better power consuption and upgraded features. In the end if you are still able to play your games you shouldn't upgrade at all

Nobody can answer that question with complete confidence. However, as mentioned in this video, I will say that AMD generally offers similar performance at the same price as Arc GPUs, while having fewer games with inexplicably bad performance. In other words, I don't generally recommend Arc GPUs over AMD alternatives.

I would include the RTX 3060ti in this list, despite the fact that it has 8 gigabytes of memory, from its first days it has not been inferior to the 6700/50xt in general, and in some places it even surpasses it, both in new products and in games of past years. I have been using it for two years in 1440p and I can safely say that this is a very decent card

@@ashrafsharaf2216 this is generally true, however, for the options you gave in your scenario, option 2 is still better, here’s why: Both the 4070 ti super and the 4070 super are great for 1440p, ESPECIALLY for less graphically demanding genres such as fps. Going with the lesser of the two will, in all likelihood, NOT impact your gaming experience in any meaningful way. However, the 7800x3d is way better than the 7600x. So if you ever DO find yourself CPU heavy, which can certainly happen in fps games with good GPUs even at 1440, you’ll be glad you put the extra budget towards a beast CPU instead of a barely better GPU.

In all honesty, I don't understand why do people compare Nvidia vs AMD, heavily considering Nvidia's RT capabilities, when there are only a few games that utilize RT nicely and trully make the games look better. The other 15000+ games, in 99.8% of the cases, do not support RT, or have a poor implementation of it. On the other hand, DLSS is somewhat better than the FSR, and arguably similar/same to FSR 3.1, which AMD supports across multiple GPU generations, as well as they also have frame generation technology.
