I'm a senior working to get off the bench. Right now I'm out for a week or so with a high ankle sprain but hitting has always been my biggest problem. The tip about not thinking ball or strike but looking for a pitch you can drive was something I think I really struggle with as well as the telling yourself to swing. Once recovered I'm sure these tips will help me improve as a hitter.

Swinging at those inside pitches when you are looking out over the plate can make it an expensive out or foul. I broke my bat first game of the season in that exact situation, all for a roller to the pitcher.

its a convenient spot for me but not my favorite because I have to pause every 5 minutes (sometimes more) as airplanes fly overhead. Gets really loud.

The 'duel' between the pitcher and the batter, is one of the most compelling battles in all of sports! Unless you've been a professional hitter, you might not fully grasp what I mean. It's way beyond the regular high school stud hitter vs. high school stud pitcher, mono E mono, your best against my best. I'm talking more of a high level, mentally calculated Bobby Fischer chess move type of stuff. Consider that a baseball is almost 3 inches in diameter with a baseball bat being just a bit smaller in diameter. Is the pitcher throwing a fastball, curveball, slider, changeup, sinker, knuckle ball, screwball??? Is he going inside, outside, low, in the dirt, high, high & tight or AT my head! Is he a lefty, is he a righty? Is his spin rate very tight and fast, or does he have a slower spin rate. How's the visibility, is the Sun in my face, is the ball going through any shadows, how are the night game lights? You have a very short window of time in which to calculate all of this. Like I said, a high level, timed Chess match. 🤔 So difficult a task is this, that you can become legendary if you can figure it out, on a continuous average, just 3 out of 10 times!
