Great stuff! I used to be a 2x a week beard wash guy, but since starting HIIT workouts daily during the work week I now wash M-F. I work in a conditioner every other day or so and usually don’t do anything on the weekends. I haven’t noticed a negative change in my beard yet and find it easier to style a clean beard.

Hey Dan C, More sage advice from the Trusted Teacher! I think the most important point I took from your video is this -- there is no single, perfect answer to the question of how often one should wash their beard. Each bearded brother has to decide what THEIR answer is to the question. Most folks are looking for THE answer, but need to seek THEIR answer based on their specific needs, circumstances, and physiology.

Thanks for the video. Yep, I'm one of those twice a week washers (Sunday is the day of rest for my beard and no products are used) but I'm retired and in a controlled environment. If the beard was sweaty and dirty, I'd wash it. If not washing the beard, every morning after washing my face, I'll do a warm side of tepid rinse followed by the ever popular cold rinse. Once almost dry, here comes the oil then styling. Works for my gray beard.

Everything you said makes TOTAL sense. Ever since you first said this before, I’ve been washing my beard with quality beard wash after every workout. It’s made all the difference. Sometimes, I do “two-a-days” where I’ll lift weights in the morning and run a few miles outside in the evening after work. So, I’ll rinse after the gym and then wash after my run in the evening. It’s the gallon of water a day that I struggle the most with. I don’t know how you do that! Will you please consider doing a video on how you get that done and what your process is because I wanna be able to do that, too! As always, your videos have helped me TREMENDOUSLY!! I bath and wash my beard every morning and night. I use high quality wash and condition 3 times a week with scotch porter. If I don’t wash like this I battle breakouts. I exfoliate every wash which seems to prevent breakouts from the beard oil and balm. I also use nightly leave in butter. My beard is very healthy 💪🏼🧔 And I DONT use sea salt spray I see some use.

I’ve been on the opposite side of “conventional thinking” for a while now. Like I believe I’ve said before I do rotate the way I clean my beard. Least if which is co wash only. My work contains chemicals, dust, dirt, rust and I’ve always felt the need to wash it everyday. I have picked up some medium type wash’s so I can skip the conditioner everyday. Great video Dan, I didn’t disagree with wash once a week but knew it wasn’t for me. Only thing I think I’m lacking now is a deep conditioner I’m hoping to pick up soon (Chesapeake ultra).

@Dan C your beautiful Beard is on point as always, it’s like it gets longer and thicker every video lol. Your video is also on point, your advice is the truth. I’ve been growing a beard for about 10 years, and I had ah goatee for over 25 years. I was married to a beautician ( cosmetologist) for 18 years, she taught me a lot, so I’ve been knowing a lot for years. But since I found your channel I’ve learned so much more. I agree with everything you teach us, especially busting the myth about washing our beards only once a week. I’m retired at a younger age, so I don’t sweat much, unless it’s summertime in South Louisiana. I follow your advice on everything. My beard was looking horrible yesterday, I washed my beard with Scotch Porter last night and conditioned with Scotch Porter, man the difference it makes is crazy. I followed up with Beard Octane Barbershop oil, waited 10 minutes, then put in the Barbershop butta!! Beard was on point!! Thanks for dropping dat knowledge brother!!!

Reason number 27 (just a random number) why we love Dan C. Logic. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to this conclusion but sometimes it helps to here from someone else. Great video my friend. I wash my beard all the time. I love in a windy place. Dust and stuff gets blown. Along with that I have horrible allergies. So I have to keep my beard clean. I have and use LCW regularly along with other great companies we love. I use pine tar soap and Scotch Porters conditioner at least once a week. Before joining this amazing bearded community my beard was just ok. Over the last year it's been taken to a whole new level. I went out last night and saw some people I haven't seen in year. Someone told me they were jealous because my beard was softer than her hair. Plus she loved how it smell, had some DGC Black oil and butter in beard. So thank you Dan C for everything to do to help keep our beards healthy and looking on point. 👍👍👊👊

I went with the entire line of Honest Amish products. Premium oil, original balm an wax, and the beard an body soap bar. I literally get dirt, sawdust, wood chips in my beard 5-6 days a week so I use the H.A. Soap bar daily. It works very well but I feel it leaves my beard overly dry or stripped. The oil an balm revitalizes it. Is there a conditioner out there that you would recommend to follow up with the H.A. beard and body bar? Or would you recommend a new brand of beard wash and conditioner altogether?
@junkyard-p1s18 күн бұрын
Try the bearded mack company. Get their beard wash bars! Those are freakin great! Lathers up real quick in the shower. I use honest Amish products too. But only the extra Grit black bar. But only once a week. I switched to the bearded mack company wash bars! Excellent! No where near as harsh. Then after the shower , a damp beard ,I too like the honest Amish classic beard oil!. But I wanted a different oil for different scent, and not as thick oil. I tried 3 other companies. Badaas beard care, Beard octane, ( barbershop) and luxurious bastard, all great scents and oils!! I highly recommend!! And my favorite butters come from, Beard if God! The different vanilla scents are out of the park home runs!!

Given the nature of my job I wash daily. I’m a mixer operator and am continuously exposed to flyash powder and cement powder floating around in the air at the plant. Love your beard Dan. I’ve got probably a third of your length in 3.5 months. I suppose if a guy is working a construction job and getting foreign products in his beard daily that using a shampoo to strip the dirt along with the oils might be the way to keep the beard clean. I’m retired ‘age 57’ and have had beards for 25-30 years or so. I discovered cowashing recently and this works very well for me. But everyone is different. I am definitely against using shampoo because my experience is a dry beard and an itchy beard. For me cowashing daily helps clean my beard and contribute to it being soft. I don’t have any split ends that I’m aware of and my comb always glides through the beard effortlessly. I do use oil first thing in the morning. A few hours later I cowash while in the shower. After showering I put some V05 conditioner in. Later I ‘ during the winter’ I put some Black Jamaican Castor Oil in. And later before bed I put balm in to keep the beard hydrated throughout the night while I sleep. When I get up the next day I repeat this process. I experiment and change the process up in order to see what’s working at certain times of the year. The main thing is to keep the beard clean without stripping the oils. If the beard looks great, doesn’t itch, has no split ends or beardruff then you are probably doing something right.

Ok when u are saying wash you mean a "beard shampoo" a co wash isn't enough?
@DanCBearded5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! A co-wash will not do enough to cleanse the beard, especially on a regular basis

Im going to need you to site something for this beard washing thing. Last I checked salt was very soluble in water. I cant think of a reason it would not rinse out with just water. Soap emulsifies oil and caries it away when you rinse (along with the dirt). Salt is not soluble in oil. I would love to see where you are getting this from, perhaps there is a mechanism that I am missing.
@DanCBearded Жыл бұрын
What aspect are you looking for clarification on? I’m confused
@reformedsoteriology Жыл бұрын
You make the argument that salt is bad for your beard and so we therefore need to wash. My point is that rinsing your beard removes the salt. No need for soap. I agree with you on the dirt part. But if you just got sweaty, there is no need to do anything more than rinse. I was hoping you would have a study of some sort saying that I am wrong.
@DanCBearded Жыл бұрын
Oh no study, just experience and logic that if you sweat you should wash. There is much more that comes out with sweat other than just salt. It’s literally flushing the toxins out. You wash your body after a sweaty workout, your beard should be no different. There are no studies on sweat and beards to prove or disprove. Not enough money to justify anyone conducting that study, yet.

Thanks Dan! I have been really struggling with a wash routine. Just this morning I was frustrated cuz I hadn’t washed my beard in about three days and I have always felt that my beard looks and feels so much better when I wash a little more often. You have put my mind at ease 🙏🏼.

I need to know the best washes and co washes you reccomend dan the man!!!
i co wash 5 days and shampoo 1 day, i go to the gym 5 days. I always thought the co wash was cleaning as well. I must admit when i shampoo my beard it does look and feel amazing. change of plan coming up. update: Don't know if you remember Dan, you advised not using balm, i haven't for over a week now.......Damn! it does feel good, not clogged up and actually still feels soft.

I work outside and in bodyshops so I’m thinking wash daily, oil is super important, condition 2-3 times per week. Butter before bed. Am I on the right track? Prior to finding your wisdom I bought Sasquatch brand products on Amazon. After I use them up I’m switching to your other videos recommendations unless I should discontinue that brand now. Thanks for your input

What’s up dan! Got some questions for you but First and foremost, I would really like to thank you for all the awesome videos you upload!! You’re really helping me out through my beard journey I started back up again!!🙏 quick back story, I tried growing my beard a couple years back but got to that month and a half mark and got frustrated at all my flyaway, crazy chin hairs going everywhere that I just shaved it all off. I recently started growing it back up again cause I would just love having a nice medium sized beard! Through your videos I recently found out that there’s all kinds of care and styling you have to do on your beard. I did not know any of that. Here I thought you just grew it and that’s it. Lol so I’m at that same mark I was years back (month and half) and sure enough those flyaways are back but this time I’m sticking to it! I just ordered some beard wash and co wash and beard oil from royal beardsmen. I also ordered some Detroit grooming beard butter and seven potions beard wax( all thanks to you!) My question is, I go to the gym every night 5 days a week so I sweat a lot. Would i be ok washing my beard with regular shampoo just until my products arrive? Also any advice as to kinda straighten those crazy hairs? I did watch your fly away video and your video in how to straighten your beard so I’m definitely gonna try that once my products arrive! FYI: I’m going for the same beard look as you except a little smaller, about medium size. Thanks in advance! Once again great videos!!👌

Sorry for the long message! Ha
@DanCBearded5 жыл бұрын
Hey brotha. Washing with head hair shampoo is better than not washing, but is not exactly good for the beard. For the fly aways, you have 3 options: 1) patience and rock what you got. 2) a firm balm or wax. 3) apply heat and tension to give the hairs direction
@820bryandiaz5 жыл бұрын
