Thank you for seeing the reasons why the choreography video was shot the way it was. The entire choreography is based on them being intoxicated by the poison that is fear. I really appreciate the fact that you get it. They really are lyrical and choreography geniuses. I love this new adventure they are embarking on and cant wait to see what's next.💗💙

I do like the new choreo video for seventeen but for people/dancers who learn the dance thru their dance practice video, having a heavily produced and edited dance practice wouldn’t really help them. Maybe Seventeen can do both? HAHAHAHHA

I personally prefer a fixed camera, especially when it comes to SEVENTEEN choreo vids, but I agree with everything you said in this video. Not my favorite song, not my favorite choreography, but still enjoyable with nice combos and moments. With them finishing up HIT, which was high energy, bright, and fun into FEAR, which is deep, dark, and emotional, it provides a nice contrast. But I think this was a perfect follow up, with Seungkwan just recovering from his ankle energy, he was able to participate fully in this with its more mellow and subtle moves without worrying about the typical jumps and footwork in a typical SEVENTEEN choreo. Yeah there's not much going on in the choreo, so a fixed angle would've been bland. So thanks for your insight and in the end, I trust SEVENTEEN as artists and their artist interpretation.

As someone who loves theatrical emotion given choreos they for sure achieved it despite it being something they never done before. So I fully know what you are talking about when it comes to impact and such. I appreciate you love this type of choreo vid because I honestly did too despite how many ppl did not like it. The knowledge that I was feeling things and intimidated by the members is what they wanted so I knew EXACTLY what you meant because I felt it 100000000% A fixed version is good for those that want to learn it that's all. I just believe that SVT knew that the music shows were going to do fixed cam of the performance so I believe that's why they didn't bother to make a fixed ver on top of this.
@marcellin7175 жыл бұрын
Really loved the fact the you took time to understand why the camera work was not fixed. You helped me realise the nuisances in this video and appreciate this art more. Huge respect!💙
@nathaliaalves36643 жыл бұрын
I'm one year late on the comments, but I just wanted to say that this is exactly the reason why this is my favorite Seventeen coreography so far, the emphasis they place not on the movements themselves, but on the story and emotions that the dance, together with the music, in the form of a complete piece, conveys. And that's also the reason why I really liked the dance video, because the camera and directing work made the choreography much more powerful, impactful and sophisticated. I think you did a great work on your analysis.

Late but I just noticed rewatching this, every time I watch the fear choreography video I can’t help but feel anxious because it’s so different from other choreo videos we’ve gotten + the camera work and the transitions etc. It’s disorientating in a way that it’s different with all these other elements. But knowing the message of this song and the heavy emotional implications of it, it makes so much sense that this choreo video is like this. Intentional or not, the way they shot this video perfectly alludes to the feeling of Fear and the varying responses to it only adds to the element of uneasiness and poisonous feeling they wanted to show in this song. At first I didn’t like how this was shot, but now I have a completely different feeling and really appreciate it now with how much emotion they put into this whole era.
@zaraloves84205 жыл бұрын
Yes, I kinda agree with your perspective on this different type of choreography video. I’m sure it was the members’ choice as they are always involved in anything related to them. S.Coups even said in an interview once that he would always sit in any meetings that are about Seventeen, even if he has nothing to say.
@thekarlakbays16065 жыл бұрын
Great analysis, Elliott!!! The Fear era is a turning point for Seventeen. They themselves said that through Fear, they will show a different side to them. While their past choreographies showed power through dynamic movements and creative transitions and formations, I believe that Fear is their way of showing that there's also strength and power in subtlety. I completely agree with you that there's more than one way to convey emotions while dancing. Really great insights!
@littlepopples5 жыл бұрын
i feel u. i get u. i hadn’t seen the fixed version, so the little bit i didn’t appreciate the camera work makes a lot more sense to me now. the difference in dynamics w/ HIT and Fear as well as the fixed vs moving camera versions is very stark. very good points made.

When they were asked about fear choreo they said it wasn't as hard or complicated as hit, but the emotion they have to express through dance was the most complex thing to get done. And I think they wanted to focus the dance practice on that, so they choose this way of filming. I still would love to get like an official fixed version or other versions as well as they did before with pretty u or adore u, because I feel every angle can give you something different or more details on the performance. On some fancams I've seen some really cool details of fear choreo that you can't really catch on this version or on a fixed version (because like that is too far away). Anyway I love they tried something different, I think it looks more cool in a way. This is more of a performance dance video I think? I wish they calmed down a bit with the zooms in and out in some parts because it really makes me feel dizzy, but at the same time maybe that was the intention of the director since the lyrics are quite dark as well idk. If you have time you should check snap shot performance it's VERY different from this but is quite fun and theatrical 💖 and when you think that they promoted this two songs together you can get how versatile svt can really be and it's super cool

Loved the video !!! I think that the way they chose to film this choreography video make so much sense. Since it is a very "simple" choreography, the camera work really did it justice and a great way to get that feeling of fear and intimidation
@hyperanimeluva45 жыл бұрын
Here's my take - if you're going to put the time and energy into producing a "choreography version" in this style, just make a performance version a la don't wanna cry with full costume, make up, etc. This is a personal opinion of mine but many groups release "choreography versions" shot in this style with close ups, etc and I'd be more okay with them if they were labeled "performance version" instead because that's what it is. When I see "choreography version" I want to be able to see the entire choreography.
@not-identified5 жыл бұрын
Exactly, many of us expect a fixed camera when we see the words "choreography" or "dance practice", and like you I appreciate videos like this named properly what they are, be "performance" or the so called "eye contact ver."

I didn't mind the way the video was shot and did enjoy it BUT I don't think it should've been the first and (assumingly only) choreo vid. They used to give us multiple choreo vids (front view, rear view, etc) and they could have done that here. I feel like giving us a fixed version as the choreo vid and then this as a special vid would have been a better option, personally.

To be honest, when I first watched Hit dance practice video, I felt weird. I was quite surprised with the way they shot their dance practice but at the same time I could sense that they'll keep experiencing with new videos in the future.. I was looking forwards to see Fear dance practice video because this concept is new for their main song so when they dropped this, I was out of words.. The camera work is really confusing and I kinda annoyed then I checked out fancam performance version.. When I watched fancam ver, I somehow get it why they shot the video like this.. I don't know how to explain it but I got the idea what they're trying to present.. After watching your analysis, I finally understand everything.. I really love your explanation.. To be honest, if it's a choreo video then it should highlight the choreo. This video was made very cool, but it made me dizzy and i couldn't enjoy watching the choreo. I prefer the camera to stand still. I want to see each member dancing. Camera work is camera work, but reality is reality and seeing them dancing live without extras and effects is more my taste. 6:24 so cool that you noticed something like this I also think that they tried to put more impact on the choreo with all these camera movements. The choreo is really cool, but there isn't much happing..... how should i say it..... it's cool, very cool, but it's kind of plain.... yeah don't hate me.... Jun also said on a radio show that in this choreo there is more emotions then anything else (they practiced their expression and emotions more and it challenged them)... he said that each member had an emotion which they tried to deliver. He even explained his two emotions very detailed lol Your interpretation was very good. I really enjoy your opinions
@katlindmark2165 жыл бұрын
That's why I think I prefer the non-fixed iactually. Because it higlights the emotion in the dance better. With the angles and the focus on their expressions you feel more. It is definitely a taste thing but idk. The hard work they always put into their choreos were much more noticable in the non-fixed version than fixed. Although as a cover artist it sucks a bit that it's harder to follow the choreo 😂 Wish they would've done both.
