Just starting with DDR hottest party on my Wii- such a fun game. Have a hard time hitting the perfects even on low difficulty :) The hand markers are also fun but slightly frustrating because they are often not registered even if timing was spot on. Especially if I get two in a row - noticed that folks advise to shake it or point it downwards but you are doing it different and just hit the air and don't seem to shake or rotate the controller . Could you please share your technique?

I don't know that I had a technique. I was raising the controller in the air because that's what I thought the game instructed me to do. I was doing a sort of air punch, I think because I was treating it like a hit with my hand. I imagine that might punch might be read like a shake. I definitely wasn't trying to rotate the controller at all. That being said, I felt like I got misses for several that I thought I should have gotten. Of course there were several legit misses also because I'm simply not used to playing this way. :)

@@brianho25 Indeed noticed that you did miss some of the markers. I was so impressed by your footwork that I didn't see that haha. My current method is rapidly rotating the controller from up to down. Not needed to point to a direction. That works fine as long as there are not two hand markers in a row. Would have been helpful if there was a song with only hand markers to practice.

I dare you to play the Beginner chart. It's so hard, you won't be able to pass it.

Thought you had this connected to an actual Wii somehow. Unreal setup. Have you ever used one of the plastic DDR mats for console? I assume they’re worse than the arcade dance pad but are they still fun?

I did an entire series of streams of the Wii DDR games. Here is a playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PL7DIWBf4MCFpGRvXyQMtQgSl-XxToTDD0 The plastic mats are still fun. I used them before I had a machine. They're fine for mid-level play, but one you get into more difficult levels you have to start figuring out ways to keep them from bunching up and sliding around.

This is an arcade cabinet. The game is running on a PC in the Dolphin emulator and connected to the cabinet with a minimaid interface board.
