Just watched video from this performance and realized I was there. It was an AWESOME show (at Bamboozle Left in California, not in Jersey). Happiness was/is my favorite album by them so that was a dream setlist. Hearing the audio by itself vs being in that crowd watching this show, especially w/ Johnny and Jon making guest appearances, was a COMPLETELY different experience. I talked to Will Swan after at their booth and asked him, as a fellow guitarist, how the hell he wrote all these amazing riffs. He said "Idk, I just throw on some SNL and play whatever sounds cool." Legend.

@@strawberryhornet2604 I have to disagree, TCS2 was peak Jon Mess, he's never performed better than that. I like Jon on DBM2 but his screams are definitely much more "yelling" than his usual style.

Can't say it's the greatest. But it's awesome to see how far they've come and grown. Every time I have seen them live they were great. Part of this could just be the recording equipment they used. And since this is an outside show, possibly very hot, it's not too surprising the quality isn't as great.

Nah that’s his voice it was failing and he just kept wanting to smoke cigs....I’ve heard bands recorded live on iPhones that sounded better. They planned this and it came out this way.

I'm responding to this while listening to Will struggle during Carl Barker. That's on Matt. He's playing so fast, screaming is really hard when you don't have the space to breathe.
@NateYet3 жыл бұрын
@@Pokeoakestcg will has very breathy screams as well so that makes him need to take even more breaths than average
@Pokeoakestcg3 жыл бұрын
@@NateYet oh for sure. I'm not even sure if breathy quite captures his "technique", you can tell he is very influenced by hardcore vocals. He pretty much expels all of his air in a single line. Not such a big deal during a hardcore groove. But the spastic fiddles amidst odd chord choices with screams locked in, doesn't really lend itself that style. Which is actually a shame because I genuinely enjoy Wills vocals, there just isn't any quality live performances of it sans Tree Village on TCS, but Jon is there backing him up. Hopefully we get some screams from Will on the new album.
