Downtown Battle Mountain 2 is their masterpiece to me. Its probably their least accessible album, but its their musically most impressive album with some of their best songs like 'Elder Goose' and 'Swan Soup.' I prefer the whole Jonny Craig era over the Tilian era and I prefer the Kurt Travis era over the Tilian era. Out of the Tilian era I definitely do believe that Mothership and Artificial Selection are their best albums for that. I like the new DGD albums just purely to see how incredible Will Swan and Matt Mingus are at their instruments. Tilian is one of my least favorite High Tenors in the game though I do like him in Tides of Man.

My ranking is the complete opposite. Jonny's albums are at the top then Kurt's then royal oceans and bottom is tillian. I tried to listen to artificial intelligence when it came out but i had to have a reason or meaning to hear it. It never came and when i finally heard it in 2022 it just sounded like a weaker mothership with a few similar cord progressions from previous albums. I never even dabbled with the albums moving forward because my mind was clear i was a Jonny fan first and a kurt fan second. I am still a dgd fan but i am in the early era. What's crazy is I got introduced to dgd in 2015 when it was tillian's 2nd album with dgd.

I understand your list but saying that dbm2 had weak tracks. I want to know what tracks they were. Because in my opinion that was a perfect album with no bad tracks and I've had my far share of only wanting to listen to one specific song in the album.

@@seanturner6063 I’d say the weaker tracks would be Thug City, Need Money, Elder Goose, Privilously Poncheezied, Swan Soup, and Purple Reign. They just don’t really stand out much to me, nothing for me to latch onto. None of them are horrible by any means I just don’t find anything to come back to in them

1. Downtown Battle Mountain (definitely not their best album, but it is absolutely my favorite, at least right now, part of me probably loves this album because I listened to it a lot when I first discovered it in 6th grade, listening to these songs and getting used to them because I used to not like the uncleans, while waiting for my classes to start, and now I am in 12th grade and I still do the same thing, just listening more and more, the album starts great but not too complex before the middle of the album and onward instrumentally go insane but you're still able to keep track of it, Jonny's vocals and lyrics are actually kind of understandable here, same with Jon's, it's just an all around kick ass album, with no let downs, and constant engagement from me) Favorites: Antlion, Open Your Eyes and Look North, Surprise! I'm From Cuba Everyone Has One Brain (honestly every song after Strawberry Andre). Least Favorite: Strawberry Andre 2. Dance Gavin Dance (usually would have this at number 1, hell it'll probably move back up in a couple weeks, but this album just feels the most DGD to me, everything you could want from a DGD album is right here in beautiful display, a mix between Jon's older vocals and the newer vocals, Kurt's easy to sing along with vocals, the heavy but pretty instrumentals on DBM and more modern guitar sounds are all on this album and blended very very well, it's just everything a DGD fan could want, with very little to hold against it in my eyes) Favorites: Alex English, Hot Water on Wool, Burning Down the Nicotine Armoire 2. Least Favorites: Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most, Reprogramming Mental Preprogramming 3. Happiness (this went from number 2 for me to number 3 in 1 day huh??? anyway it's easily the most lyrically rich and interesting of the albums, discussing many ways of losing happiness and trying to find it again, it just doesn't feel super instrumentally notable compared to basically everything else) Favorites: Happiness, Strawberry Swisher 2. Least Favorites: I'm Down With Brown Town, Strawberry Swisher 1 4. Jackpot Juicer (this feels like the 2nd best part of each album all together, while it's long none of the songs are too skippable, even my least favorite is still pretty nice to me, and it has my favorite DGD song) Favorites: One Man's Cringe, Feels Bad Man, Current Events. Least Favorites: Two Secret Weapons, Polka Dot Dobbins 5. Acceptance Speech (I like the old sound DGD has, and this is the only Tilian era album that really has that sound, so I like it) Favorites: Carve, Turn off the Lights I'm Watching Back to the Future 2. Least Favorites: Acceptance Speech, The Jiggler 6. Afterburner (this feels watered down, and it feels like a break, a much needed one imo) Favorites: Prisoner, Parody Catharsis. Least Favorites: One in a Million, Calentamiento Global 7. Downtown Battle Mountain 2 (basically the same as ArSe, just instead of disliking 2 songs I dislike 1 song, and less songs are forgettable) Favorites: Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex, Swan Soup. Least Favorites: Spooks, Thug City 8. Mothership (basically like DBM 2 except I like some songs more and some songs annoy me more, but it loses me more with every listen so idk) Favorites: Chucky vs the Giant Tortoise, Petting Zoo Justice, Man of the Year. Least Favorites: Flossie Dickey Bounce, Exposed, Chocolate Jackalope 9. Instant Gratification (this is definitely the first album I would show someone if trying to get them into the band, it's good, but I have become so used to how DGD rolls that it just kinda became boring over time compared to everything else) Favorites: Something New, Awkward. Least Favorites: The Cuddler, Eagle vs Crows 10. Artificial Selection (uh half of this is forgettable to me, like I'll listen to half of the songs and think they were good and then forget what I heard 3 minutes after, other half is great) Favorites: Shelf Life, Bloodsucker. Least Favorites: Flash, The Rattler sorry for the long ass comment I just got a lot to say about this band and I don't have the ability much to make a vid like this

The overall ranking is similar to mine. Started the band off with the Death Star album, but it does rank similarly down there. But Acceptance Speech is what hooked me to put this band dear to my heart. I didn't expect you to put Artificial Selection up there but that's understandable.

1. Mothership, no skips. All bangers. 10/10 2. Acceptance speech 2.0, same shit, just a crazy fucking album. 3. Dance gavin dance, crazy good vocals, crazy nice vibes. Hot water on wool is like top 3 songs ever made 4. Instant gratification, all bangers, but i feel like this album is consistently 8/10 and doesnt really go above that 5. Artificial selection, still like a 9/10 album but some of the songs are kinda boring, midnight crusade, the rattler, shelf life, all kinda meh 6. DBM2, holy crap, thug city is the best thing ever made, everything else is like 6-8/10 still a really good album 7. Happiness, again, some of their best songs (carl barker, sbs2) and some of the most boring ones. 8. dbm, great album, love most of the songs. alot of skips tho 9. Afterburner. Some of their absolutely best songs, (strawberrys wake, say hi, lyrics lie, parody, nothing shameful, but all of the rest are SO boring 10. Jackpot juicer, i just dont really like alot of these songs. Theyre kinda just boring and alot of them sound very much the same, synergy is really good though.
