It blows my mind how amazing, interesting and "massive" every single song in this record is. Can't even decide which songs I like more, they are all incredible. Dance Gavin Dance delivered again and Jackpot Juicer is a golden album, just wow...

@@zachhudnall8107 100%. It always takes at least 5 times per song because they are so chaotic and have so many different rhythms. Ive been a fan since Downtown Battle Mountain 1 and its never changed. They are such intricate pieces of music you have you to listen so many times to fully appreciate how everything comes together

I'll give credit here, I haven't really liked any of Andrew's parts in the past.. his sound just never seemed to fit for me.. even on other songs on this album I could live w/o it, but both his screams and cleans on this song fit perfectly. I guess because it's more interplay between him and Jon/Tillian as opposed to just him sitting on an island by himself. Do more of this

No one talking about how deep the song itself hits during these trying times when everything is literal pvp rn. You gotta beat everyone else to succeed in life and it's not at all ideal. The song seems like a plea from someone who is tired of this rat race and just wants to be accepted as who they are and not what they have achieved. That's why 'One man's cringe is another man's tattoo', since success is subjective and different for everyone

I think the message of this song is that the pressure of trying to appeal to a people, or a way of life, or an interest in general can lead you into a conformist mindset where you have to fulfill that perception of yourself that you think other people see, and how easy it is to lose yourself, especially if that undertaking has a negative effect on you, as you know yourself. The last lyric "one man's cringe is another man's tattoo" speaks to me and has made me not only more understanding towards myself but everyone else struggling in the same way. I hope this won't be the last time i listen to a new DGD album that changes my perception and ultimately my life. DGD till I die

Jon makes this song very godly. I like how the upbeat/buildup goes well with Jon, and honestly it fits him well. I feel like Tilian covering the slower and chorus parts was an okay run. I feel like JJ Jon vocals are insane everywhere that it's its own tier on top of how good the soundtracks have been built :)

Or just the sheer amount work put in. It would be hard doing this. When on tour playing a show almost everyday and playing alot of the same songs would get very tiring. When not touring you are trying to be creative with a group of other people to write an album, that is probably very straining.

I always interpret songs as something the listener can relate to (especially since this song itself says 'somebody out there [...] needing the words to this song') and I think a lot of people can relate to this - you start out wanting to do things (job, a new venture, talent) for fun but then things become work and you lose their meaning because you've been chasing after approval. At least that's what it meant to me! That's the beauty of music - it can mean a thousand things.

[Intro: Jon Mess] Don't listen to acceptance speeches Make them give it up, say that winner sucks Don't listen to these mindless screeches Nip me in the bud, come and get your hug [Refrain: Tilian] Said you read it, did you get it? Bet you didn't Not gonna change, gonna change your mind You won't let it get embedded, apathetic I'll never change, never change your mind [Pre-Chorus: Tilian] Move on, I'll move on There's somebody out there living in despair Needing the words to this song Move on, I'll move on Can't spend my time making something for everyone This was supposed to be fun [Chorus: Tilian] All I wanted was a blank page In a wide-open space and the one I love to come home to But I got caught up in the rat race Suddenly your embrace doesn't hit the mark like it used to You make your bed with the ones you deserve Will you have the courage to project what you hold true? All of your words get reduced to a blurb Will you have the courage to project what you hold true? [Post-Chorus: Jon Mess] Don't listen to acceptance speeches Make them give it up, say that winner sucks Don't listen to these mindless screeches Nip me in the bud, come and get your hug [Refrain: Tilian] Said you read it, did you get it? Bet you didn't Not gonna change, gonna change your mind You won't let it get embedded, apathetic I'll never change, never change your mind [Bridge: Jon Mess] No thanks, oh great Complains from saints Bad weather Too much time spent trying to stay in line No thanks, oh great Complains from saints More pressure Hard to know better if you're always right [Verse 1: Jon Mess] What's the meaning of this meme-less meme? The inception of a dreamless dream? I see you cringe at what I'm mentioning 'Cause caring hurts, and all these feelings, they sting [Verse 2: Tilian & Andrew Wells] Playing through a headache when I got into a rhythm Playing through a headache aggravated by my enemies Can I reinvent it when I feel like I'm imprisoned? Can I reinvent it when I'm running out of memories? I don't need the credit, I need something overwhelming Save me from the pattern, I am giving into everything Can I reinvent it when I feel like I'm pretending? Can I reinvent it when I feel like I'm the enemy? [Outro: Tilian & Andrew Wells] All I wanted was a blank page In a wide-open space and the one I love to come home to But I got caught up in the rat race Suddenly your embrace doesn't hit the mark like it used to You make your bed with the ones you deserve Will you have the courage to project what you hold true? After hearing Jackpot Juicer a few times on different formats, I can say that One Man's Cringe is the best track on the record. That's open for debate, but for me personally it's fantastic. The instrumentals are angelic, the vocals from all three vocalists are great (including the back and forth with Tilian and Andrew towards the end), and it's lyrically really interesting.

All I wanted was a blank page In a wide-open space and the one I love to come home to But I got caught up in the rat race Suddenly your embrace doesn't hit the mark like it used to You make your bed with the ones you deserve Will you have the courage to project what you hold true? All of your words get reduced to a blurb One man's cringe is another man's tattoo
