I'll give credit here, I haven't really liked any of Andrew's parts in the past.. his sound just never seemed to fit for me.. even on other songs on this album I could live w/o it, but both his screams and cleans on this song fit perfectly. I guess because it's more interplay between him and Jon/Tillian as opposed to just him sitting on an island by himself. Do more of this

No one talking about how deep the song itself hits during these trying times when everything is literal pvp rn. You gotta beat everyone else to succeed in life and it's not at all ideal. The song seems like a plea from someone who is tired of this rat race and just wants to be accepted as who they are and not what they have achieved. That's why 'One man's cringe is another man's tattoo', since success is subjective and different for everyone

I think the message of this song is that the pressure of trying to appeal to a people, or a way of life, or an interest in general can lead you into a conformist mindset where you have to fulfill that perception of yourself that you think other people see, and how easy it is to lose yourself, especially if that undertaking has a negative effect on you, as you know yourself. The last lyric "one man's cringe is another man's tattoo" speaks to me and has made me not only more understanding towards myself but everyone else struggling in the same way. I hope this won't be the last time i listen to a new DGD album that changes my perception and ultimately my life. DGD till I die

Or just the sheer amount work put in. It would be hard doing this. When on tour playing a show almost everyday and playing alot of the same songs would get very tiring. When not touring you are trying to be creative with a group of other people to write an album, that is probably very straining.

I always interpret songs as something the listener can relate to (especially since this song itself says 'somebody out there [...] needing the words to this song') and I think a lot of people can relate to this - you start out wanting to do things (job, a new venture, talent) for fun but then things become work and you lose their meaning because you've been chasing after approval. At least that's what it meant to me! That's the beauty of music - it can mean a thousand things.
