Most directors do. They don't have time to choreograph everything and they also want some room for the dancer to put themselves into it. It's more genuine that way. And that is what made Maddie stand out. She would take it and add in her own stuff without fear and make it better than Abby or Gianna had choreographed it to be,

When I do my solos, and I think this applies to most people, my choreographer always likes to see what I'm most strong at, add those, and then lets me choose specific details like arms

Yes! I agree! It is a great teaching technique that she uses but the producers choose to only show the drama and Abby's rudest moments. If you were able to see the true story, the reason she would be yelling would be understanding. Thank you for pointing this out.

She can be toxic at times, not that many of the original cast members even want communicate with her. So that is very telling and there is definitely animosity between former dancers, mothers, and even other choreographers who have worked with her.

@@melissav3894 I think some of that came from the mothers and the kids thinking they were more famous than they actually were. Or certain pushy stage mothers furious that their baby wasn't the star and the kids copying their example. Plus the pressures of doing an actual TV show together with unreasonable demands from production as opposed to being a normal student. Not to mention the jail thing would have put some parents off. Abby isn't faultless in that but I think neither party is faultless.

Yeah when Abby is yelling it's because she has a mother in her face telling her how to do her job or it's because it's the fifth time he's told a kid the same thing. You don't see the lead-up. In reality she wouldn't have the energy to be that angry all the time for every rehearsal.

Abby is a perfectly well rounded lady, she gives constructive criticism and creates the choreography based on the kids abilities. It’s a shame the show has been driven to drama, if more people saw this side of Abby, a lot more people would agree with her. Please make more of these extended rehearsal videos :)

I think on the show yes. Because the producers tell her to be angry as often as possible. But off the show no. Because when she gets mad at a kid, like when she got a bit touchy about Pressley's foot, it's usually because she's corrected them multiple times or they're not putting in the work

It's obvious that all of Abby's struggles she went through between season 7 and 8 really changed her outlook as a teacher. Just these clips alone, to me, prove that she is finally able to put trust in her dancer's ability (whether or not this is solely because she can't teach the same way anymore)
