I’m American, but never saw debutants or these kinds of formal birthday celebrations, like a wedding, except for people who graduated from HS, not formal dress like prom or special wedding anniversaries or wedding receptions, though. What a beautiful girl. I love that song, and can relate to losing a father when young, but have mixed feelings about inserting such an emotional, sad absence into a celebration. More like a post funeral wake. I cried, too, watching this, even though it’s been 40 years since I lost my own daddy. God bless this young women and be her daddy and shepherd throughout life.
