Dance Academy is mainly about the fifteen-year-old Tara Webster - a girl who grew up on a farm in outback Australia. Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of being a dancer and in the series she finally makes it into the National Academy of Dance. It’s known as the best school in the country and she is sure her life is about to be spectacular.
Throughout the series Tara and her friends face the universal challenges of being a teenager and they battle through the minefield of elite dance training. Relationships grow and change as they live side by side in the Boarding House. They each take a different path, but they start to find out who they are and they all dare to chase their dreams.

I watched and loved the show, but honestly some of the things they had them do was just goofy, especially Tara, and this was one of them. Some of the acting was off at times, but overall it was actually pretty good, especially in season 2.

To me it came across as her pointing out what they were doing/thinking, not her prioritizing popularity but rather her saying that they excluded her because THEY prioritized popularity over letting someone properly mourn. It didn’t come across(to me at least) as something she thinks is like, a reasonable thing to do or think, but her acknowledging what she believes to be the reason they acted the way they did.

The way I understood that she was friends with sammy a year earlier than they were. Unless there was some huge blowout between the two, before their passing, banning anyone from a mutual friend's memorial is a bad move. It's to grieve together and share stories with others about the person. Making bereavement an invite only situation/ only "their real friends" can come, turns it into a popularity opportunity and status check. There's stories about people riding the coattails of the dead for either attention or brownie points or passes.

​@@snowangel92100That's not at all how the show went. Grace was cruel to everyone, including Sammy. She only knew him a year and was never his friend, whereas the others had all become close friends the year prior. They had their own, separate memorial for just those close friends, and that was the part Grace wasn't invited to. She was an awful person, even though they all tried to be kind to her, and she used their grief over Sammy's death against them at the prix to try to get ahead. Highly recommend watching the show, Dance Academy, for more context.

Honestly I rewatched this and grace didn’t always do the correct thing but she ALWAYS had Tara’s back. And instead of just sitting down and having a real conversation with her, Tara threw her under the bus all the while acting like she gave a crap. In this instance, Tara didn’t communicate the time with grace and she has no right to be angry with her. Grace does lash out here but it’s because Tara had Grace covering up her back being broken and then the second she didn’t need her anymore she just threw her away. Everything grace does after that isn’t right but it’s understandable. People lash out when they get put into a corner and have no one to talk to. At this point grace has no one, of course she’s going to stop trying and put up her walls and act out

I will never understand why she thought she’d be invited to the memorial service when 1. She was barely friends with Sammy (find a time they interact outside of them being pas de deux partners. You won’t find them) 2. At this point she had since left the academy and was their rivals in the Prix (mostly out of spite) 3. The way she stabbed literally everyone in the back, including but not limited to doing Red Shoes in the Prix & 4. Well, if Abigail had to stop being friends with her because she was evil, it’s probably a good indication that she’s not a good person. Like she’s judge and jury of being evil and even she had to look at her sideways cause of her obsession with Tara Consensus; she was never gonna be invited
