i can tell zakharova was also very young in her clip, apart from the actual recording quality if you notice she was still using grishko which means this is from around 2000s or previous. in any case it’s a huge praise for maria to be compared to these queens!! it’s not meant as a race, just artistic comparison and she nailed it!!

Zakharova really stands out for me out of these splendid performances. She is so incredibly powerful through and through that when I was watching her I thought that she might shoot lightning out of her fingers. I loved it, and appreciate it every time when I see dancers channel strength to their arms instead of just leaving them for line extension tools. This small little detail makes Zakharova's work crisp, strong, and alive from tip to toe. She owns the character and her power, and it makes all the difference. Khoreva's beautiful as always, but at the same time I almost always get the feeling that she has worked so hard living up to other people's standards and being perfect in her art that she hasn't had the time to work on her own uniqueness which is, of course, absolutely there only to be discovered and tapped into. When it comes to ballet students, finding, working on and trusting the depth of your own personality can often be as hard as (if not harder than) refining one's technique, especially when people start so very young. This is one of Khoreva's best performances I've seen in this regard. Wishing her all the best, she is fantastic all the same.

Svetlana Zhakarova never bores she floats like a fairy and an angel in one. Insane to think that. And Natalia osipova was overweight and 38 here out of shape. In her prime in her twenties, Sylvie 25 in this image while Natalia was much older and overweight, she would have been perfect because she's great with high energy and charisma. Still though, I prefer svetlana's ethereal style

After viewing this several times, Sylvie Guillem's performance really hits home for me. Even though Zakharova's arms bend so serpentinely it's hard to believe, Sylvie's arm work seems more integrated with the motions of her body. She also seems more in time with the music than the others. Everyone's good, but Sylvie looks perfect.

This is the role and the scene that introduced me to Sylvie Guillem, now easily my favorite dancer. I could not take my eyes off of her, she was truly mesmerizing, something I would learn that was not at all unique to this role. She is exquisite and was at the pinnacle of dance. Svetlana does it the best. Its her type of role. Each accent of the dance hit perfectly. Her bourrées are divine. Maria is great, but this part is still a bit too hard for her. She can't seem to hold those poses that make this dance special because she can't keep still when its time to hold the pose. Because of it the dance is missing those accents. Osipova is usually phenomenal, but this wasn't her type of role. Her bourrées are stiff and heavy. Guillem is ok and so is Nunez.

Well after seeing all of these one after the other I must say that my favorite is....EVERY ONE OF THEM!! I'm not a critic or a company director - just a very serious ballet fan, so I have the privilege of loving all of these wonderful ballerinas and not having to choose just one of them. Disagree..Svetlana is is definitely number one. She melts into the air with her fluidity. Her arms hands feet everything is so beautiful and ethereal she's like a fairy and an angel. Sylvie is obviously one of the greatest of all time but her upper body is too stiff for me and her arms are too stickish. It's just her choice in this dance but I'm not don't care for it. Svetlana embodies everything with perfection

Осипова ...ну чтобы не быть невежливой, просто напишу, что это не ее партия, ей бы Китри, Лауренсию, Пламя Парижа. Сильви и Нуньес...не произвели впечатления. Osipova is the Hungarian Princess with attitude; I love her portrayal. I want to dance & celebrate with her! Zakarova just flows & Nunez & Gillium are gorgeous. Khoreva is lovely & developing character.

Really interesting! Thanks for this. All such different interpretations too. I think Maria Khoreva showed plenty of drama: it did not always show on her face, but in the way she used her body... fascinating to watch. Sylvia as always was stunning, a real individual. If I had to choose a favourite, it would be Zakharova though: I know the ballet is set in Hungary, but I found Zakharova’s Interpretation fascinatingly reminiscent of Georgian/ Cossack dances, the way the ladies seem to be floating - which she achieved with those incredibly neat bourrees- and the elegant use of arms (they are supposed to be swans): then the change with the music to a more Hungarian style. That, to me, was the most compelling viewing.

Осипова в этой роли смотрится тяжеловато, хотя я ее очень люблю. Тут абсольный фаворит для меня Захарова. Она не играет и не танцует, она живет. Так легко и гармонично ее исполнение, будто и зрителей там нет. Браво Светлане! Это фурор!

I do not like to compare great ballerinas for their performances,. Each of them creating own interpretation of particular role in Ballet. Zakharova poses perfect body line, pure technique and unique acting talent as well. But all of this ballerinas in this clip are great in own way. So, I love them ALL !!!!

Guillem is the best in this compilation. Nunez comes next but it is not fair to compare her performance because this was filmed during the lockdown and she didn't even have enough space to dance properly.

Svetlana is the best hands down. Even at 33 compared to Slvie 25 and in her prime, Svetlana shines as an ethereal Angel and fairy goddess. Sylvie is phenomenal no doubt, but Svetlana makes it look effortless with fluidity and ease

These ballerinas are treasures, each expressing their unique qualities and interpretation. I looked up Gelsey Kirkland’s version after watching this clip and, even though the video itself is not so clear, she is a standout, too. We’re so lucky to be able to watch these sublime artists.

Sylvie Guillem est majestueuse. Elle a non seulement une technique irréprochable mais aussi une fluidité qui rend cette technique légère. Quel dommage que la carrière d’une étoile soit si courte. Les autres ballerines sont également éblouissantes . La jeune Khoreva semble si jeune, elle manquait certainement d’expérience pour ce rôle.
